After about a month of looking and about 3 years of wanting I have finally taken ownership of my very own Roadster and to say I couldn't be happier is an understatement. But lets go back a few steps. The hunt started seriously about a month ago when I finally got back into full time work and after a delayed pay check I found myself with two paydays in the space of a week, meaning for the first time I could actually afford the car I really wanted.
After a call to Bruce (Mystery-Machine) we put together a shortlist of Roadsters within my budget and the merry-go-round of PM's and texts began, to no avail initially. All the owners I contacted had either already sold or for whatever reason just weren't giving out the right vibe. So, just when it looked as if I might be out of luck, even with the massive amount of cars on the market I receive a PM from Brendan (starionturbo) on this very board.
I had previously contacted Brendan but having seen the car go through ebay without selling and also hanging around on here I won't lie I wasn't getting a good feeling about it. However after a few PM's were exchanged we agreed a price of £800 with Brendan keeping the valuable style bar. So a couple of days later I was on the train to Southend with a bulging wallet and the hope that the little Roadster was going to be as good as described.
Well when I arrived I was gobsmacked, this car was great, by no means concourse but it didn't have a speck of rust and it sounded absolutely sweet. How had it not sold? Well according to Brendan, despite numerous PM's, calls and interested parties no one had actually bothered to come to take a look. More fool them, a few minutes later cash was exchanged, V5's signed and I was on my way, grinning like an idiot and feeling like I'd got the bargain of the century.
Having now owned the car for a week or so I'm still grinning like an idiot, every time I get in it I love it more. I'm really starting to see why there is such a fuss about these cars, if they are all as good as this one, then I can't think that there are many more cars that provide a better bang for buck. Anyway, enough from me, here's a few pictures of my blank canvas, with updates on what I've been up to coming soon.
