no, youre just not allowed to express your negative opinions on here. seeing all these pics again has actually made me thing about owning an aircooled again, something I never thought id think about, so this thread has done some good! oh and seth, its interesting the j cars use camber to tuck bigger wheels under- whereas I had to run spacers on the back of my last bug to stop the tyres rubbing on the inner arches it had so much camber!! Didn't you know, you can't have negative camber comments on here; this the land of repressed emotions. ;D As for the camber 'issue' it isn't; a swing-axled car at least has a mechanical reason to run negative camber. The Japanese cars are owned by fashion victims who need a slap upside the head with a wet Koi.

More pics, less opinions. Matt doesn't really care weather you like it or not or if you prefer dub or jdm. You/we can make our own minds up about that.

those are better, some camber looks cool, but when the wheels are balanced with about 1mm on the road it look ridiculous IMHO

Only car ive ever span round was my bug... Had camber but not loads. But from a driving point of view, You have about the same footprint as a mountainbike tyre on the rear. That + weight of engine and box in back + rwd + wet roundabout = facing wrong way appologising to the woman in the volvo for stopping her haha

the way i see it is that the VW's seem to pull the look off way better than the j tin with the really excessive camber which seems to be done more for a shock factor than a look. that said i prefer any vehicle i own to have its suspension in more of a working configuration so neither work for me but i think the VW's do that look better

there appears to be a lot of chastising of cambered cars going on here, quite unneccessarily. some cars, camber is an unwanted byproduct of lowerage. prime example, back of a swingaxle bug, but also induced on 90% of trailing arm suspensions. not much you can do about it all really. i did a lot of mods to my split van, and my last bug, to reduce the amount of camber induced when lowering, but most people just don't bother. but, in motorsport, camber also equals grip, to a certain extent. this much camber for example- will make a car a lot grippier on track than one without any. what has happened is the crazy japanese modding scene has taken camber to equal racing pedigree, with the idea more camber= better/faster/cooler, hence lots of cars now running silly amounts for more scene points, which has now spilled over to the states now the septics have 'discovered' the J scene. a little camber is cool, say 3-5degrees. it looks mean and actually has a practical benefit. after that, it all starts to get a bit pointless.

don't have any problems with camber I just don't use excessive scene type camber on my own cars as I like to run a safer handling car than that don't have a problem with it its just not for me . there does seem to be a big thing lately of posting bitchy comments towards how this place is run though the rules are there to be seen I suggest anyone who doesn't agree or can't stick to them to go else where and stop using this place to just slag the mods off on here. there are better ways to say you don't like things than just showing the negative I for one am getting very bored of reading such posts from the same people every day on here sorry rant over

Can't we compromise? Personally I only like extreme camber on VW's (even watercooled), but subtle camber works on anything. And for poop and giggles:

Yes but lots of rear camber & unremarkable front means understeer and non-progressive breakaway when it does let go, especially FWD. Also 3-5 isn't a little camber that's friggin loads lol I don't understand why they always camber-slam the rear too ? Front camber is howt;
