Superb! This looks an awesome project. Yeah wiring may be a bit daunting but it's not impossible. If it were me, I'd try and transplant as much of the Scooby wiring and associated gubbins into the wedge as possible. I know someone who's stuffed an Alfa boxer engine in his splitty, but I think that was more of a well trodden path, and it was running twin 40s so not much fuel system wiring to tackle. Keep us posted, as has been said - if you're getting hacked off with it I'm sure there will be plenty of support (technical and moral) from the RR massive!

It's the price of the bits against difficulty of doing the wiring myself thing that's put me off so far. I do have a type 25 panel with a curse word engine though.... You changing the rad for a better one or sticking with stock? Stock is used for most installations, it's a big old rad on those water bricks you know If I need to, I'll bolt an exceedingly large fan on there too ;D Apparently, Cavalier and BMW fuel pumps car be used, the subaru one is in tank, so I can't use that, and TSR want £100+VAT for one :S I think I'll give that a miss and go for the cheaper option The engine cross member on the subaru can be chopped and used as a support bar with a few bits of angled metal apparently, which sounds pretty nice too, I like the idea of making it look stock as possible. That said RJE also do a bolt on cross member at only £150 , yeah I'll weld mine up thanks Exhaust is another one, somone on club80-90 has used a renault 21 silencer and a couple of 90* bends to make a quiet stock looking silencer. how cool is that?, and if I want something more in your face, I can just use a different silencer! I don't want anything too mad, TSR's plates can be used for other engines too, such as turbo's but I want to use a www.rjes.com/ bellhousing so I can use the subaru flywheel, starter and clutch, the TSR one needs a custom flywheel@ £450+VAT with the plate and a custom clutch @ £125+VAT Keefy, I'm thinking the same to be honest, it can't be that hard can it?, as I'm sure that's what TSR already do... Benz Boy, Thanks again, you guys all rock!

Anyone got a diagram ? thats a STUPID price, at least double what i was even ball park thinking... I'm not scared of wiring, and my Dads an electronics engineer of over 40 years experience, not much seems to phase ( electricians joke there ) him...... Had no idea the actual lumps could be picked up so cheaply ......hmm.....something to think about while my DG lump soldiers bravely on.. ;D

Whats the issue with the loom ? Are you just trying to get the engine wiring Standalone from the car wiring ? Get diagram and sit in the livingroom with some chilled music and no distractions and strip the old one down ;D Details of specific Subaru vehicle.....cant promise anything but I`ll see what I can find Whats current cheapest commercial loom for the conversion out there may be someone here interested in modifying looms to suit ;D Cheers Dom

Dom, the only person I know of who does the loom is TSR, they charge £350+VAT apparently, but a call to Andy earlier to ask about belts and bits, he quoted £250+VAT. the car is a Subaru Legacy 2.0 circa 1991/2 ish, it's the EJ20 engine. Yeah I want the engine loom to run standalone, so it's pretty much "plug and play" once it's all setup, if that makes any sense, so when I turn the key, it powers up and activates the fuel pump. I can't see it being a major issue, but I'd like somewhere to start from, if you could get me a diagram and some kind of instructions of what I need to be doing, that'd be brilliant!!!, it's all new to me, but I know this is the conversion I want! I'm not scared of having a go myself, but I can't afford to mess it up. On a side note, I rang the DVLA regarding our logbooks the other day (slow GITS!), they assure me they are en route...

I was wondering how difficult it was too ? Surely, the ECU and fuel pump will need a switchable 12v and thats it ?! maybe a few cut off valves etc / sensors bypassing ? Whats would the score be with running it without a cat ? ? Anyway, lets see what Mr C500 can come up with !

Being a 1992 car I need the cat , as the engine the car came from is required to have it..... I think. Boved tho'?, it's go on once a year for approx 1 hour

Whats would the score be with running it without a cat ? ? This wouldn't cause any engine management issues, as I'm pretty sure it's mounted after all of the sensors. Legally you should be OK too, as the wedge wasn't fitted with a cat, so regardless of the engine's age there's no need for one

I'm pretty sure it goes by the vehicle age rather than the engine. But as you say, it only needs to be fitted one day a year anyway
