My little monster LOVED this and is always asking when i'm getting another one, thats partly the reason i've picked up a soft top Vitara when it was offered to me cheap, you have to keep 'em happy. ![](http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v173/popuptoaster/Image592-1.jpg) (Excuse the mates working on it, they seemed quite concerned one of the mirrors had fallen off)

I'd avoid an xjr if I were you! I've not long sold one. nice cars, cheap as chips but boot space is pathetic, given the size of the car. It'll fit 4 adults in comfort but don't count on getting much in the boot. you'd probably struggle with the weekly shop and a buggy. It'a a big area but only about 6inch deep in places.
Subaru legacy GTB FTW! huge estate, 4WD 280bhp for when the nipper ain't in it and early face lift ones can be had for around 3K!

Thanks guys. I don't want to be too sensible but also don't want to let swmbo feel let down by me buying something too old and rusty (as is the norm) so fairly modern and 2-3k really. Shamefull as it is, I do find the shape of the previa quite appealing. Ross On 2-3k you may not get the newest (Estima) shape. But have no fear - I have a Lucida backup! ![](http://i194.photobucket.com/albums/z285/surprising_skoda/customcar_previa2_big.jpg)

How about a Renault Avantime? Modern, quirky, massive, rare and odd. I've seen a few 2 litre turbo's sell for £2500 recently. ![](http://medias.forum-auto.com/uploads/200408/murcielagofan_1093256034_avantime2_1.jpg) ![](http://blogs.mollat.com/litterature/files/avantime.jpg)

First off congrats Ross. Nissan Stagea for me as well ... or a T5-R. For something more economical and quirky I'd go for a Honda S-MX ... I'm not sure but there may be a Type-R version as well. edit: Theres a rear side door on n/s only ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) ![](http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3019/2689028214_736eb64a4f_o.jpg) ![](http://ekhatch.files.wordpress.com/2009/07/12_big.jpg)

Well done of the dad thing.
BMW build some sensible family cars. Perhaps an E34 540i touring. V8 and 286hp in an estate. Or more sensible get an E34 525i, 192 hp 6 clyinders of M50 loviness.
There are always the older E28's too.
Jag XJ's are cheap though.

My first daughter (now 14) came home from hospital in my wifes '78 Mustang II (2.8ltr v6) ![](http://karenv8.homestead.com/files/mustangfa.jpg) A few days later, the trip to grandma's was in my '71 Mustang Mach 1 (7.6ltr v8 manual) ![](http://karenv8.homestead.com/files/mustang1d.jpg) Our second born came home in my wifes '84 Trans Am (5.7ltrHO v8 manual) ![](http://karenv8.homestead.com/files/transamsided.jpg) The third was in a Cherokee because I'd taken the Chrysler to bits by then. So, the obvious choice for a sensible dad chariot is an american muscle car........they're curse word on fuel, there's not enough room in them but they look good and sound great ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/smiley.png)

/\ /\ /\ ;D Could always buy this v v v loads of room for child accumulated tat in the back and easy to look after them if they are sitting between you ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) the transit below was our family vehicle till our second born came along and I've just gone got a minibus version for a camper/day van conversion. Its simply awesome. 7 seater, top spec (heated seats, air con etc), load liner, built in dog guard and boot cover. And straight 6 goodness. HOWEVER - best purchase of all was a Land Rover buggy. Ignore all the sales plums about Phil & Teds and Quinnys which are massively floored (for my lifestyle anyway), whereas the Land Rover will go anywhere, do anything, is compact and amazingly light. You'll need to be on ebay to get one though.

Firstly Congratulations ;D I have to agree with both swerve and keefy ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/wink.png) Either one of these ![](http://i.auto-bild.de/ir_img/61429176_1f682db67b.jpg) or if you want a more classic look ![](http://farm1.static.flickr.com/211/492859928_c82ca6cec6.jpg) i would of said at first not as economical as some may like but if your considering V8,s economy isnt an issue ![::)](//storage.proboards.com/forum/images/smiley/eyesroll.png)
