Bruce, can't believe you're selling it dude...
For what it's worth, this Delica was a ridiculous laugh when I brought it to the gathering and it never stopped turning heads. Bruce's fantastic attention to detail shines through in every part of the Delica. Whoever buys this is getting something special!

Just to say having seen this in the flesh i can only imagine how hard the decision to sell has been for Bruce.
Best of luck for an easy transition into not owning this.

Dude, am amazed that this is up for sale man. and even more amazed at the MASSIVE attention to detail you put into this! have seen it many a time in pictures, but had never realised even 1/10th of the work/effort/time/money that went into it.
Was a pleasure to meet you today, and hopefully ill get down to A52 before this goes so i can have a proper look around her!
EPIC for sale ad!!

Thanks Dude, it was great to meet you to and you're more than welcome to come over to Area 52 anytime. Something I forgot to add to the thread (I did mention that there were too many things to remember!) In some of the pics above you can see the lower part of the front wheel arch is missing. This happened while I was on holiday and was due to an idiot on a country lane making me do an emergency stop just as I'd hit a big dip in the road. The car was fully loaded on the suspension from the dip when I had to hit the brakes hard. This caused the OSF tyre to catch the lower part of the wheel arch. As you can see, the tyres are pretty chunky and when it hit, it must have ripped the arch off. It was only later that I noticed and when I got back to the lane I couldn't find the arch anywhere! After my holiday I looked into a replacement and the only way to get one was to buy a complete new set of arches! At over £500 per set plus shipping, import duty & VAT from Japan, I decided to do something a bit more 'future proof' I took the same piece of arch from the other side (nearside) to a model making company who made an exact replica in solid wood, but in reverse/mirror. I also got them to reinforce the nearside piece with more wood while they were at it. This alone cost me £180 just to get the wooden 'buck' made. I then got a fibreglassing company to make a mould of both nearside and offside pieces from the wooden bucks. These cost me £50 each (£100) Once the moulds were made, they then fibreglassed some new arch pieces for me (£20 each) which I then got sprayed to match the rest of the car (£60) Some careful Dremel action to get the arch pieces to fit perfectly, some new piping fitted and the arches look perfect and you'd never know they aren't the originals. Total cost was £380 which is a LOT of money for two small pieces of arch, but a lot cheaper than importing a complete set....and I've got the moulds for both sides if one of the pieces was ever to depart again. I've also scored the exact cutting profile into the mould so that any new ones made will have the marking for where to cut to get it to fit perfectly. The bucks and moulds are included in the sale. These are the bucks....I don't have any pics of the moulds I'm afraid but they are in mint condition, stored safely in my lock-up store at Area 52.

I'm scared about advertising this on the Delica Owners Club because of the amount of flack I'll get for even thinking of selling it! Mate, I'm sure plenty of people in the UK Delica World would give you more money for it than you are asking . . . . As others have said if this was VW in similar condition it would be selling at £30k+

Quick question....... Where else do you have this advertised? Errrr...nowhere! As I have said elsewhere, I am in no rush to sell, I don't need to sell and in some ways I don't want to sell (the only reason is that I don't use it as much as I used to so it seems a waste it just sitting there!) I probably will advertise it in a few other places soon, but there are three people currently interested in it. None of them are in a rush, but nor am I, so it suits me fine. I've got other transport to get me around in the shape of another couple of Delica's along with my (very soon to be on the road) MX5/Eunos and also the Area 52 Punto parts chaser... If it sells, I'll be happy that it's going onto a new chapter where it'll hopefully be used more and I have more funds to work on other projects. If it doesn't sell then I am considering aquainting it with a 4.0 32 valve lump of Lexus power which I happen to have sat down at my unit! I'm thinking of transferring a lot of this thread along with more details over to a new thread in the Readers Rides seeing as I've never actually done a proper build thread for it. There is a hell of a lot of detail that I haven't included here...

I just wondered as (and I'm not being disrespectful to anyone here) your average Retro Ride user is at the other end of the market, and as much as most people would love this vehicle, they wouldnt be able to afford or justify spending 10k on what is essentially a lifesize toy (again nothing disrespectful meant there to you or any RR user).
I always end up with the dubious task of selling and looking for all my families cast offs or new cars, as I have a little experience in buying and selling (thats why I pmed you about the Punto for my cleaners mum!).
The last vehicle I sold was a BMW and it sold within 3 hrs of it going on a dedicated BMW site.
I understand that you are going to get some flak from the Delica site for selling something you have clearly spent a lot of time and effort on, but I think you really need to pinpoint your potential customer when you are selling something this unique....and I reckon thats the ideal place for it!
I reckon you should move the thread to the readers rides section as I think many more people would join in the postings, since with it being in the for sale thread most people will be reluctant to!
I should have probably PMed you with this but too late now...lol
Good luck with the sale anyhows (and why not add a link to the for sale thread in your signature?).
