The bigges problem with the 5 pot conversion is that I may as well just buy an audi s2 and have 4wd too. The logical conclusion there then is a 5pot engined 4wd 944... ;D Which is a bit similar to something I was looking into the other day actually, but with an extra cylinder tacked on. this!! ;D

Is modofying ths just a waste of time? I can buy an Audi S2, S4, E36 M3 all around 3k, the price of a decent 944! Why get dirty hands?

Actualy ian, i was thinking about when it has boost and the clutch slips, or gearbox goes or the running lean issue, all headache. I'm no longer somone who enjoys working on a car, i cant even be arsed to fit the rear calipers. A factory fast car already has the gremlins sorted.

The problem with cheap performance cars is they often need lots spending on them to get them back up to scratch. As you found with the 944. In my personal experience buying a cheap M3 is a false economy Kudos on the 944 BTW, it looks awesome ;D

I get your point to be honest, I have not the time inclination or ability to do anything to my cars anymore either!
The thought of it sounds good though.
£3 - 4k gets you an aweful lot of car these days, I would personally not be able to choose between the S2 and am E36 M3
Saying that I am a fool and I swapped my Dads 944 S2 for a golf VR6

No interest in the 944 on p/heads or RR
It was an audi S4 that I was targeting most, though the insurance is duff.
I bought an A4 2.8 quattro off here for an insight to s4 ownership, its costly. What I have learned is an Audi S4 will cost a fortune to keep on the road, and I will need a vag com.
I owned a 3.0 m3 for a year and it cost almost nothing , an almost faultless design, but lacks the handleing of the audi...still lots to insure though.
Keep it old skool, classic insurance and simple design easy to repair?

Sounds like you are stuck between a rock and a hard place! Your 944 looks great, and is worth what you are asking, however most will want more performace I think just like you do! I cant even think of anything else to suggest, but I think all of your choices could end up expnsive when problems happen, like you found with the Audi. If I were you I would probably look for an E36 M3 Evo.

Keep it old skool, classic insurance and simple design easy to repair +1 The only thing I would change about my e21 - if I had the cash & skills - is that I'd fit an e36 M3 engine. Cars like ours have character and owning them is worth all the effort for those days when everything goes as it should. I think your 944 looks cracking in some of the pics you've posted. Lovely cars.

The m3 evo has to be the biggest bargain around right now, ok the evo has some vanos issues, but that aside one of the best performance cars ever made, you can use it full without it breaking. I see the above point about money pits, but not always the case if you know what to buy, Evos start at £2800! perfect car to drive to the ring and do some laps, knowing it will get you home. Only downside i could find was rear tyres don't last long.

That looks great. They're most definately the best rims you can put on a 944.

Thanks would like to put some smaller tyres on the front and have it as low as it was before reshell, and some belgum plates that aside the exterior/interior is as I like. If it had an engine with a huge turbo and about 450hp it would be bang on! Found another 2-

You've got a great '44 there! What a road you've taken with it. Those Azev's look spot on too. I was after something similar for mine but I'm hooked on my 16" Tele's for the time being.
How's the SC plans coming on?

I'm surprised you still want to sell after seeing how good it looks in those pics.

Glad your keeping it. Rear cage will look nice once you get that blown 5 pot in there.
