**READ THIS BIT** This thread had a twist... Now then, this isnt the nicest example of a 944, the engine is OK but I the cars had a hard life, I need to change the gearbox, and the rusty fuel tank, the front wings and sills are rusty, there are some dents in the rear qtrs, the wiring is an iminent fire, the drivers door has break in damage, its an early dash which is very cracked, sunroof does not work, headlining is ripped ect.. ect..
I can and was going too fix all this, but I went to a local 944 specialist to get a few panels and they were going to be pulled off the cleanest shell ive ever seen.....so I bought the shell. Its an 86 model -oval dash, alloy arms, bonded screen no airiel ect ect... it has the plastic fueltank which is what I needed. The sunroof works, zero rust 3 owners, a lovely 5 digit plate, and its black. It comes with glass and loom too.
I'm very happy with this as it means NO bodywork No rust and when its finished it will be an oval dash model.
I'm going to waxoil it, fit the loom and gearbox and anything which isnt comming off mine so I can run mine untill the last minute.
What a great shortcut!

Shame its not making another birthday, but wow, looks great on those OZs! They look so much better with decent wheels actually filling out the wheelarches.

BARGAIN!!! I've always liked 944's but never took advantage of their bargain availability because of tales of discomfort for taller people. I'm only 6'2 but hate my head being right under the lining - what I'd give to be 5'9 lol ;D

You can put lower seats in the car that make it more drivable for taller people, but you have to get used to the steering wheel being on your lap in earlier cars.

That sounds like the a great idea, you even get to keep your hands mostly clean! are you going to keep the early bumpers or go for turbo or S2 front? I was going to go for 968 handles and mirrors on mine, but sadly it wasnt practical to keep, and someone got a bargain S2. Those OZ wheels look superb, if you ever see a nice cheap set let me know, I need to find out where the cheap split rims are!!
I have a car cover my Dad bought if you know anyone that want its?!

I forgot the dam camera again, sorry. But for the record, my re-shell thread is going wrong, its going to be a pic of a finished car I think! The engine is not in the car as the flywheel has not arrived yet but all the little bits like handles, mirrors, motors, trim, ect.. is done!
Tank, fuel lines, rear brakes ect are done too. (thanks Dave)

I bought some new seats, not from ebay! ;D Recaro, electric/ heated porsche logo seats, mint & no wear as from a LHD. The old interior was like this-

I have leather door cards. At this point I'm not sure wether to get logo ones or not. also not sure about having a rear seat or a cage. The rear seat is useless anyway, and a cage and suade wheel would suit the car i think.
OPINIONS ?

Like you said rear seat is useless remove it and neatly carpet the area or shell out for one of theose clubsport rear seat delete kit things. Cage could be great but for me never looks right with an otherwise standard interior.. so I would only do it if your stripping the rest of the interior.. which would equally be a crime when the interiors are so cool! lol.

The rear is deffo useless, i may carpet it, but I'm not paying £259 for a delete kit from a 968! I wouldn't strip a 944, there isnt much to remove anyway tbh. I like the interior with cage in a porsche like a 964 rs style. If it has a cage, sueade steering wheel with the recaros and leather door cards i think it will have the RS kind of theme, www.lotustalk.com/forums/f162/1994-porsche-911-964-rs-america-ca-87378/

Mmmm yes I see where your heading and yes could work fine.. agree on the price of the delete kit! carpet/a bit of fibreglassing could get you same result for pennies. Thinking about it a nice neat cage in the righ colour possibly with a couple of touches like a laser cut porsche text on brackets or similar could rock.. you planning on buying or building the cage?
