if by back depth you mean back spacing then its what the yanks use instead of et.
a 0 et means the face is dead in the middle of the rim, with + moving outwards and - moving inwards. Hence the bigger et, the more the wheel sits under the arch. I hope that makes sense

It means the mounting face of the wheel is offsett 34mm from the centre line of the wheel. +ve ET means the wheel is more insett towards the centre of the car -ve ET means the wheel is more outset away from the centre of the car.

Makes sense now! Ta So +ve offset has much more dish? +34mm is an option ;D I wonder what fitting problems that causes! I'll have to get my dad out with a tape measure to measure from the hubs to arches ;D

Stop calling them Lotus steels. The 5.5J Lotus wheels that you're refering to are for Lotus Cortinas, and don't fit Triumphs. 5.5J wide plain 'hubcap' steels do come up in Triumph pattern, but they'll have never been near a Lotus. That's got that cleared up then. If you can find a set of 5.5J steels, than go ahead and snap them up - but I'd be sticking with the Sprint rims for now.

For obscurity, I'd go Exacton, but Allycats are good too IMO.
What's that weird Dolly-based thing that Panther did? IIRC, didn't that have Exactons?
