Hey this is my lil project/bit of fun Bassically here is the cars story before i bought it! retrorides.proboards.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=readersrides&thread=81069&page=1It was like a 300 mile round trip to buy it, but it done the 150 miles back no problem! When i got it i decided to de bumper it and it later looked like this: Got bored so added some evil eyes and a roof rack haha Then i thought a colour change was in order, so started spraying it satin black But got bored again, and decided to make it into a pickup as you do. So heres a few pics of the build, its not finished yet! Only started it this morning lol Stipped it out: Added abit of bracing (the wood ontop is for later when the roof gets bent): Chop chop chop: Bend bend bend: Its far from finished! But any tips or critisim would be appreciated, good or bad i don't care! I'm only 18 I'm just enjoying my self and having some fun haha, although it is a serious project and i will be making sure its safe! Jack

as far as I have read on this forum there is no way you will be able to now use the car on the road. any conversions have to be checked by dvla/biva? but from what iv'e read there is no catagory for that type of conversion so it cannot get road registered. have a read hereand a read here

Yeah it will probually need an IVA when its finished, but I'm not worried about that atm, iv'e just had a quick read on the ace site and it states that you are creating a goods vehicle which must comply with the minimum load area which must not be reduced by fuel tanks etc. as the engine takes up quite a bit of that room i think you are in no way going to be able to register it. that site also says being a goods vehicle it needs a SVA test but there is no catagory for modified vehicles only a new build. i admire your trying to build a fun vehicle but it looks like your a few years too late

Oh and i see what you mean after reading those links, i later plan on an engine conversion anyway, at which point it would need a BIVA because its an amatuer build, so thats not really a problem at the moment!

so thats not really a problem at the moment! it is though. your building a goods vehicle. they have different regulations no matter what engine your fitting. you'll need it to pass a SVA test. but that is only for new builds. i'm afraid youv'e fallen into a loop hole in the system. if it was just an engine conversion it wouldn't be such a problem. the pickup part is a big problem

Fine, i will just add a bonnet to the back for the IVA, then its just a new build with a shortend cabin and a large boot/bonnet. I can look for loop holes too! haha, but really its not that which bothers me to be honest, ive wasted more money at the pub so for what the cars cost me i honestly do not care

i thought that you wanted input, good or bad i know your young and are eager to build your car the way you want but sadly beause there have been so many bodge builds over the years that these tests have had to come into play. but please don't try to play the system because that will just cause more problems for others in the future. i have yet to finish my build and i don't want to suddenly find that it will be impossible to get the car reregistered because the tests are suddenly a lot harder. please look into it more. aceadvice (member on this forum) will be a good contact to say what you may expect when you try to register your car.

I would've used the rear tailgate to form the back of the cab, as that way the rear window is already taken care of. Looks like fun but, as others have said, if you try to drive it on the road then it will be illegal fun.

Hey, you never know, maybe he will get bored (again!) and do something else (again!) before it becomes a pickup... The pink was nice, the pink and the black seems to work, but ... well, just but.

I would have used the rear tailgate and rear window, but its way to big and looked stupid with the window so low, so I'm working around it Lmao! thats my dad in the pics, i cant exactly take photos of my self cutting it up can i?! But hes been helping alot And Luke its getting there! i got some more done today, ill try and get more pics up later! And yeahh i get bored easily, I'm not allowed to work for atleast 4 weeks and ive been unemployed since July, ive got way to much time on my hands haha (I'm not on the dole though don't worry I'm not lazing about haha) Are you trying to suggest the pink is not very manly?! It might end up lilac and black camo very manly!

Are you trying to suggest the pink is not very manly?! It might end up lilac and black camo very manly! Not a bit. I like that shade of pink! (My mobile, mp3 player (and headphones) a set of wheels and hopefully next year, my mini, are all pink, close to that shade.) Just need to tidy the pink up is what I mean, the half black/half pink thing makes it look a bit ropey. But that will change once the body is altered of course.

Good on you! haha theres nothing wrong with abit of pink, it takes balls. My mp3 player and headphones are pink to, and i built a pink moped for my sister, which i ended up using for a while haha. I would paint my mini pink too, but i think a pink clubby estate would be abit ott lol. I must admit it did look really ropey with just the bits of black, it will be going satin pink/lilac when its finished, ,so should be cool when I'm finished with it
