Well, I was initially planning to do Volvo's 'naughty track day' at Dunsfold aerodrome today, but I didn't really want to leave my wife standing bored on an airfield for four hours watching me drive an S60 around, so we went off to the London Motor Museum instead. We'd never been there before, but had visited their stand at the MPH show last year and thought it was worth a go. Two bonuses: you can get cheap entry via lastminute.com, and it's right next to the Nestlé plant so it smells like rich roasted coffee. So, here's what we saw. (Still getting the hang of indoor photography with the new camera, so apologies for the less-than-brilliant picture quality.) First car that greeted us as we entered had incredibly detailed paintwork. Sweet little Porsche. Sleepy looking custom DS. Does this E-Type's bonnet bulge look a little beefier than usual...? Ah, that'd be why. As you look through these photos, you'll find that big blingin' rims are something of a theme. Tasty little Merc was a mixture of custom and Carrera Panamericana. The Batmobile. Brimming over with WTFness. Loved the chunky rims on this Cobra. Are they Turbovecs? Crazy-massive wheels on this US-spec Jag. Awesome juiced Merc. Party of schoolkids loved the DeLorean! Patinated Herbie. More pics coming...

Through the final door was something that was marked on the map as 'conference studio'. What it actually turned out to be was the room of freshly imported and newly bought-in cars that were awaiting restoration and customisation at their in-house workshop. This Rolls Royce... ...clearly had something going on. Cobra and disco van sported 20" chromes and hand-glued mirrorball tiles respectively. (Hello reflected dbizzle!)Monster Pinto! Lovely patina on this. Rayvern Hydraulics and similar airbrushing to the aforementioned Fleetwood. Bizarre Jensen-Healey... ...was full of random memorabilia. Effortlessly cool... ...and so is this.

Cali-spec Fiat spider needs a bit of love. ...as does the Opel GT behind it. If this is a genuine 246GT Dino, this has got to be £100k-worth. (Although the plate would suggest it isn't.) I love how this 308's just tucked into a corner. Slumbering Pagoda. Period dealer badge on the back of a Gran Torino. These Maseratis are becoming increasingly collectible.

Some of the cars are abit grubby, are they used much?? Not sure, to be honest. It had a feeling of being primarily a custom and restoration shop, with a museum tacked on for a bit of extra revenue. I've seen these two cars (amongst others) at the MPH show at Earls Court: I know that they do a lot of work with MTV. The owner of the place is on MTV Slips, and this is used for P Diddy's 'MTV Crashes Glasgow': They're also involved with the Gumball 3000: So, quite eclectic...!

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

Not to mention the wheels, mirrors, wipers, interior, those godawful sail panels and the panel lines in general. It's a kit car, as are the Cobras and old Porsches. Come on Dan, you know classics better than that.

Hmmmm... theres a lot of interesting motors there but the whole place reeks of "I've made loads of money from drug dealing, I don't know curse word about cars, but I'd like to own loads of really blinged out ones". Doesn't surprise me there is an MTV connection if there is. I have no idea how the place is funded but they often have a lot of cars for sale on eBay. I think they are connected to or used to be "Lifestyle Classic Cars". They used to get quite a lot of the detail wrong on their ads. Like claiming Buicks have Hemis and so forth, describing a Buick LeSabre as a Chevy Impala and stuff. They certainly have some quite high end stuff. They used to have a website for that but it seems to be gone now. Those rims on those cars is a serious crime. But you know I'd give a nut to run a place like that. I'd be weighing in a lot of bling rims on my first day...

Elo who owns it use to be a model, I think that's where he made most of his money. He modifys a lot of car for famous people too.
Elo use to come to the Hot Rod night at the Ace Cafe but haven't seen him for a while. Seems a nice bloke though.

I havent spoken to Elo for a while, used to speak to him regularly a few years back when i worked at Dream Cars when he first started out. He makes a lot of his money renting cars out for films and promo stuff, he also did well for a while pimping cars up for tasteless footballers.
Personally i would say 90% of cars in the musuem have had their appearence ruined by poor wheel choice but there's probably as many people like them as don't, and given his west London location they probably fit in well.

Its sad that I recognise a lot of cars that were cool once but are now sporting paint, wheels and details more fitting on a hot wheels toy. Also this:- is a crime. Could have bought that for £8k when Kev moved to the States but I was 17 and couldn't get insured . Matt
