Did you mix it all up to paint the garage one colour or do lovely stripes? ;-)
The previous owners of our house left loads of paint when they moved, some used, some not. Mixed up a random assortment of beige and creams and painted the guest room a treat, with a small tub left for patching up. Airing cupboard just done last night with 'random beige' from another tin.

Started off by mixing all the magnolia and adding more as the 10 litre bucket got empty. Used that as a base coat. Then mixed all the white in a large bucket and added a thick coat by roller as well. Looks good and uniform, and is one of the best things I could have done. Reflects loads of light now.

Went to my local, well it is 10 miles away, council tip to get rid of all the rotten paint and loads of empty paint buckets yesterday..... A guy was unloading this shield.... it never even hit the ground, just went straight into my car. I will make a new backing plate for it to replace the broken one, and modify it slightly. Then it will go up on the wall behind the new garage fire place. Still need to fit the chimney etc once I figure that out. Treasure. Esse Dragon was a freebie from a mate in Malmesbury, if I could get it home...... of course I got it home. Needs a bit of work, the chimney made up and hopefully I have a wood burner in the garage by winter. Any advice on chimney/flue fitting appreciated. Also finished fitting the shelves, strip light and a HUGE HiFi in the garage yesterday.... Party anyone ?? Really pleased with the new layout and tool boards.

Mickey, Mickey, Mickey.... what can I say, other than that he is a really good guy. I told him a few weeks ago that I wanted some steel filing cabinets for the garage, to replace the wooden wardrobes I have about. Today he delivered..... Three units from an office clearance. FREE, though I did give him £30.00 for his effort. Delivered. Moved about and in place, though I may move them again. The narrow drawer unit is upside down, but the drawers are the right way up. I suspect I will make a different plan for it.

I can sort out piccies at the weekend ? Hi Guz, Thanks for the offer. I think I will stick to this one. It was a gift from a friend (If I could get it into my car) and we do like the look of it. I think that with the space it needs to heat up, it will be a good compromise with the total surface area.

Often council tip finds end up as useful items. This one on the other hand, though "impressive" is only cosmetic in potential. When I put it in my car, without it hitting the ground, I did not realize it had slots in for swords. I thought it would be a cool thing to hang up above the wood burner I have fitted in the garage. Of course that is where one starts..... then you lose control. So I removed the black backing and made a new one, using a 1.2 X 1,4 meter sheet of hardboard I had stashed for some time. Decided to change the backing colours while I was at it. Then this morning I made a "Stencil" to be able to paint the accents to the stretchy bits..... cut a groove into some knotty pine ceiling plank. The rest of the plank was used to make tow "blades" for the swords. Initially I had planned to just do a very simple pair, but as I progressed the complexity increased, typical. Fortunately the bandsaw is perfect for this sort of work. Now every now and then I get a silly grin on my face, for various reasons... today it was the electric planer I bought from ALDI years ago, rarely used, but to get the two blades shaped into a typical double sided cutting edge associated with large swords, Claymores etc, I got to use the planer to get the edges. Next up, back into the woodshed to turn a couple of handles, and make a handle with a pommel as well as a cross guard. Then to split them I made up a quick guide using a couple of clamps and a bit of pallet plank. Putting the bits together started to make me grin...... Next up to retrieve the silver paint I bought years ago for 50p on a B&Q sale. The gold was also bought at the same sale. The blades got two coats of silver. Handle, Pommel and Cross-guard got a couple of coats of Danish Oil and then I used an old cosmetic jewelry to decorate it. The leather strips came from Nicola's UGG Boots. I also added some decoration to the tops of the blades. Finally done. I had a good laugh as I was pretty pleased with the outcome overall. So next job is to hang it and hope the heat from the chimney does not set it alight.

Not sure where to stick this in, but here goes. I recently removed a door from the garage and fitted a regular door after closing up the hole. I tried to give the door away, repeatedly, it was 8x7 foot, probably worth over £400 to replace. No takers. Yesterday I had planned on greasing up the truck, but then thought I would clear up in front of the garage and get the door onto the front pavement for the scrap man...... at which point another one of my crappy ideas sprung to mind. Why not cut the door up and use a piece of it as a small roof for the garden tool cabinet etc..... Into action and soon I had this, once I had found some lumber to use for the supports I had visualized. Couple of hours later this was the scene. At which point Mickey came around for a play..... Then he was off to clean out his BBQ as his wife had demanded he cook some cow today. Once I had finished clearing up etc, this was the result. Next up will be moving the tool cabinet, painting the block wall, and painting the wood to get a uniform colour. After clearing up a quick shower and then a bunch of friends over for a BBQ. Perfect weather as well, we only came indoors after 22.00

You're an inspiration Grizz, I've decided to just give in and let my hoarding/scavenger side out totally instead of trying to suppress it. Now I just to find some good stuff... which I guess is easier said than done.

Have I mentioned that I really do like (that's better than love) my wife Nicola?? This week they started doing some remodeling at her work, clearing out a lot of old equipment and stuff that is no longer fit for purpose. They had an 8 meter deep skip that was filled with chairs, furniture and much much more. At some point she went outside and got a bollocking from the judges of the County Court who they share a car park with for firstly having a large skip on site and secondly....... the local jobless alcoholics had removed all the chairs from the skip and taken them down to the "beach" on the River Medway to have a party..... OOOOPPPss? The carpark and buildings border on the edge of the river. Well, in pursuit of the chairs some steel cabinets had been dragged out of the skip and set down next to it..... when the chairs were returned and the skip collected and removed, the steel cabinets had not been returned to the skip. Nicola saw them, and immediately took a couple of pics she texted to me with just one word : "WANT??" Of course I said yes as I still have some old wooden bedroom wardrobes in the garage to replace with steel cabinets. She then got some of the funeral directors and bearers she works with to drag them back indoors for me to collect later. Did I mention I liked my wife ?? Went to fetch them the next evening at about 7pm with Mickey riding shotgun to help me load them..... Today I will unload them and empty one more wardrobe and replace it with a steel cabinet. Garage is getting there.

This weekend I want to make two if these smoker cookers from old gas bottles. My mate Woodsie works in demolition and a lot of the stuff they remove from sites have to go into skips and be "recycled" (read: exported to China and turned into cars)so when I showed him the pics I took at a car show a while ago, he was game for me making us each one as well. Fair trade. He is off to fetch a new used motorbike for his wife this morning, but my drop in later to drop of the bottles he rescued. This is what I will be aiming at. This was just after the smoker/cooker was loaded.
