^^That'd be superb if you could Mark, I'd like one side on with a tape measure if at all possible. All the pictures I can find are taken face on and they don't look as thick as the pot one. To get the clutch into the right place the flywheel could do with being as thick as the pot type but without the recess. This is the pot type. This is the flat type. Both are taken face on though Edit- Don't suppose you've a 1.8 or 2.0 steel sump kicking about?

Would you weld up a brake disc? ??, probably not, but a flywheel takes a hell of a lot more punishment than disks in the way of shock loading Make a new flywheel from scratch . Cheaper than a prosthetic leg . In the fifties the first death on a drag strip was the result of a Ford flywheel exploding . The video above was filmed at Champion dragway in New Zealand. In the very same location Back in the 70's ,two different blokes I knew blew flywheels off the back of Chevs . Both were stock flywheels and the effect is horrendous,it happens so fast that the dash board, cowl sections disappear in an instant and take any human flesh in the way with them. One guy was banned from racing there ,and pieces of bell housing clutch etc were found hundreds of feet away. The other one resulted in his '38 Chev coupe being cut in half completely.

Many years ago I changed my driving style to cope with rising fuel prices; I have now reached the stage where I am contemplating keeping my eyes shut in order to lower wind resistance.
