ok, i have been stuck on what to do about my datsun taillights since i got the car. i have these;
want these but no chance of getting any
so i have bought a set of corvette lights off an american. took the block lights out of the surrounds and made a mock up facia out of cardboard. i will make some stainless ones later...
now I'm pretty happy with how the lights look size wise but i want the hot plate effect where the indicators and reverse lamps fit in the centre of the stop tail lights and you get the red ring lit up around the outside. i am struggling to figure out how to achieve it. my plan is to buy some 50mm light units and cut a hole and insert a tube through the red lense to fit them in thus keeping the light seperate. the issue I'm having is that with the new lamps in the middle the original stop tail bulb will need re locating. however i don't want to have a bright spot where the bulb is and dim areas opposite. I'm also not keen on using multiple bulbs as they would be a lot closer to the lense as the back case is domed, i think this will probably cause multiple bright spots if that makes sense. the other option is led's. now i really don't like led lights on older cars as they look tacky and wibblepoo but I'm thinking they might spread the light better.
can i get led's that would blend together and not look like points of light below the lense? also i have no idea about parralel resistance blah blah blah so no idea how to wire them up or how to achieve the different tail light and brake light brightness. can anyone shed some light on the subject and maybe offer some suggestions as I'm a tad stuck.
cheers.
