kwik-fart scare the hell out of me,how can some people that stupid be entrusted with saftey related items like brakes etc. many years ago we (vw main stealer where i worked) sold a golf 1.3 to a young girl, first car an all that.we gave it a full service, new brakes etc fresh m.o.t. and as part of the deal an r.a.c. inspection whicjh it passed with flying colours.anyway a couple of weeks later we get a solictors letter alledging all sorts of nasty things against us.the boss invited said young lady in to the garage with her car and the r.a.c.'s chief inspector.it turns out that she went into kwik-curse word with a puncture and came out with two new tyres, front pads and discs, rear shoes,4x new shocks and a new exhaust, obviusly she was furious but had the sense to keep the old parts, which she brought with her.guess what not one part actually require changing, the shocks were dry as a bone the pads obviously brand new and the exhaust was gleaming.they tried to impound her car giving it the 'well its too dangerous to drive' bit,she was only 18 and knew no different and was on her way to a wedding so was in no postion to argue.turns out that she then took kwik-fart to court,as we were blameless and i think the garage took them to court for slander and they both won.

my dads car went into kwik fit after the exhaust fell off on the way to work, it was abit of a emergency and it seemed the best bet, it took kwik curse word about 5 times going back and forth to get it fitted properly, we had paid for it and we wernt going to rest until they had fitted it witout it rattleing, or leaking....
i would never use kwik fit again, and i make sure that none of my mates do either.
they are con men, i think thats a well established opinion.

kwik-fit have a novel price structure based on gender of driver.
Exhaust for a mondeo - rear and centre sections. i phoned, quoted £47 fitted, in stock. Claire takes car in, has them fitted. Guy asks her for £58. Claire points out a lower price was quoted - "aaah but we had to use extra parts". Claire phones me before paying, i ask Claire to ask chap which parts these would be that you need fitting two section of exhaust, given that they use new clamps anyway, and could he supply the old parts for inspection. Spanner monkey 'checks invoice', exhaust magically costs £47 after all.

......And now to 'throw a spanner' in the works In the town next to me there is a Kwik Fit and no-one is under the age of 40 who works there! The manager rallies MK2 Escorts and one of the fitters is area rep for a Capri Club. I use them for all sorts of things and they are cheap! ...£5 for an oil and filter change on a MGB ...£17 for a full exhaust on a Mini (surely that never paid for there time and fitting ). Do I think highly of this Kwik Fit centre? ... YES! Sorry to eveybody else on this thread

Just a bit of an update on this thread- I took the car in to my usual mechanic, the brake discs are all well within tolerance and the fluid loss is occuring due to the rubber seals between the brake fluid reservoir and the master cylinder having perished/shrunk a tad over the years. Hence at the moment it is letting fluid out and air in!
So now I just need to find out if the rubbers come separately or whether it's a whole reservoir replacement- in which case the bathroom sealant will probably make an appearance!

my mum took her car into the local ATS this morning to investigate a slow puncture, she has ended up with two new run flat front tyres and guess what, the tracking was out!
I'm fuming at the £400 bill and they tried to charge her for the tracking aswell! The front tyres were worn on the outside edges from being run with too little pressure in them, but the majority of the tread was fine (ie 90%)
Ahh well

I will write an e-mail to their customer services department but I did leave without any paperwork to prove what they said to me or that I was even there so I'm not too sure that I will get anywhere but at least I'll get it off my chest.

The ATS in Melton Mowbray seems pretty good, but the Kwik Fit center is total .

my brother had a problem with his car on way home from work, steering started to wobble and he had troble getting about 40mph, So he stopped off at kwick fit who took the car in and 40 or so mins later the came and told him he need both lower arms and it would be £75 a side (wtf it's a ford escort there like £20 a side) anyway he declined and nursed the car home. dumped it at my folks house where i managed to get a look the first thing i did was jack it up and look at the lower arms hmm no play what so ever i then noticed that both front tyres where out of shape (and i mean well out of shape) so 2 new tyres and £40 later the cas back on the road
have to agree with someone's comment money grabbing curse word

I didn't go into kwak-fut for years after they tucked my wife up like a kipper fitting a rear box to a golf. They ended up fitting a whole system saying that their rear box didn't fit onto the standard VW mid section (eh!)
Anyway the exhaust on the ZS fractured near the manifold a while back and it was a Sunday morning and KF are only 100 yards from our house so I rolled it in on the off chance. Of course they didn't have the part (this was when the ZS was running a stock exhaust system), but the manager, who was into old cars had them take the system off and weld it back together and refit, and all free of charge as he liked to help keep old cars on the road.
i guess he's got no future with the company as his profit ratio and monthly slaes must be waaay lower than other centres because he's obviously honest!
