Seeing as I have utterly failed to start any thread on any of my Scimitars, I'll try with my latest aquistion. Having owned dozens of Reliants since I was 9, I gave it a break after selling my last "Reliant" last year. Up untill today, when I picked up my 1984 Reliant Rialto 2. Has just 15k on the clock and is very tidy, the red paint has faded badly, but should polish up ok. Interior is MINT This is true poverty spec, no radio, no auxillary dials, vinyl trim, no bumper caps, no side flashes, not even a passenger sun visor! The general plan is to sort out all the niggling faults, then a few choice mods. Will be fitting some 6x10" wheels, either Mamba alloys, or Weller steels. Then we'll see about a slam. Have to go about it by one of 2 ways. Either de-camber the rear springs, or invert the axle (more of a headache, but a neater solution) Here's a pic of my previous Rialto, which I had when I was 16, 2" drop all round, Dunlop alloys, various performance modifications and some subtle styling cues.

Good to see another three-wheeler on the forum! Yours looks very tidy, and your old one looks fantastic. They are very under rated cars and just as much fun to drive as an old mini. Mine is very off the road at the moment after it caught fire while I was driving it down to the workshop to repair the suspension.

very nice - me, I prefer my three wheelers with the single wheel at the back. Always had a hankering for a Regal convertible

More pics of the SS1 pls! /drool Which one? Take your pick! I'll start a thread on my main couple of Scimitars, but work has been halted on those for now. Not much progress, been bombing about in the Rialto and loving it so far. First port of call though is a wider rear track to make the thing more stable. Have fitted 1" spacers and extended studs at the rear, but unfortunately damaged one of the studs so waiting on a replacement, along with new wheel nuts so I can fit the wheels I have prepared... Dug out a pair of 10x6j Mamba alloys and stripped the 165/70 tyres off. Then removed some unused 145/80 tyres from a pair of scabby 10x3.5j steels. Gave the alloys a quick tart up and polish, then popped the new tyres on. Then the fun and games start.... I have stretched 14's and 15's before using the old aerosol trick. But these 10's were an absolute pain in the a*se. After several attempts and some singed hairs I called it a day and took them to an idependant tyre fitters who had a Cheeta air cannon. Even then it took 3 blokes and alot of wrestling to get the Tyres on. Still, they are done now, just need to get them balanced as their machine wouldn't do 10's Stretch! And a rough idea of how they will look against the Rialto. Just need to lower it now, was hoping to get over to Mr K's on Sunday so we could get cracking on decambered springs for his Kitten and the Rialto aswell.

3 wheelers always look 'right' on 10s - just like Minis!

This is so cool! I prefer them standard myself but hey, well done!
How do you get on with insurance as there is a '92 Rialto at a local dealership that I'm having trouble getting a realistic quote on for some reason?
Cheers, Richard.

Try Footman James, they are usually very good on Reliants, especially if you are old enough to get a classic car policy with them.

Thanks but I'm already with FJ on an A35, they wouldn't have the Reliant for some reason, they said it was too high an insurance group or something
