Is there a bleeding procedure for these? Do they self-bleed or do you have to bleed the fuel system manually?

what benzboy says - think you'll need to bleed it
|
|
Almost on the road: b11 sunny breadvan, e36 tds, 325i skidcar,
nearly there: ford f250 tathauler, suzuki alto, u11 bluey
not for a while: ford pop, 32 rails,
not in this lifetime: ruby, '29 hillman

do you have a manual lift pimp on the filter? if yes take off the union from it to the engine and see if is squirts when you pump the button, if no there either no fuel in the tank, a blockadge or the lift pump is knackerd. If yes check for alive at the shut off solenoid, no live = fix it, a live listen out for a click when you put the live to the solenoid, no click remove it and either change it for the old one ir free it off if it's seized. I take it you just swapped in a known running engine ? if there is a click try cracking the nut on the injectors till there is fuel coming out, retighten and try agan?

I was recently trying to bleed a diesel Merc and I used one of those vacum pumps (for sucking engine oil up through the dipstick). I just connected it to the fuel return line to the tank and it primed the whole system. If you have one of those it's worth trying.

if its a chip key , normally after 96 with most cars then youll have to bypass the immob on the pump or fit your old pump,.

smash the security cover off the pump and change the solenoid for a conventional one . the soleniod is pulsed to open it so running a permanent feed wont work. i had this problem after doing a crash repair to a caddy and fried the immobilisor module whilst welding and had to do this to get it working again.

the back of the pump just above the pipes to the injectors its a steel cover with shear bolts to hold it on.its a curse word to get off.and the solanoid just need a 12v live to open it .ignition fed so it will turn off
