Just a thought here. Remember that Minor-fronted Combo van that wes on here recently? That front end would really work on the PT Cruiser. Look at the way that the front wings blend into the door. Minor. Look at the way the doors kick out at the bottom. Minor. Any one up for a Photochop? That would be a pretty nice idea actually. It'd be an enormous Minor, but a reasonable facsimile of one nonetheless. Perhaps you could call it a Morris Oxford instead of a Minor.

I quite like the looks of them, wouldn't own one due to the horror stories i've heard from owners of pretty much any chrysler of recent years, i just don't look at the tacky ones.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

PT's need major transformation before they even come close. Same can be said for every 'shopping trolley' modern that appears on here! At least Chrysler were making an effort to give what could have been a fairly mundane looking car a little character. The PT's only flaw was that for some reason it appealed to lazy folks that have the desire for 'instant gratification'. Why spend all those hours in the garage building a real hotrod.... when you can go to Halfords on a Saturday afternoon whilst the Missus is in town shopping and spend a hundred quid on tat.... and then spend Sunday afternoon attaching said tat..... then spend the next few years getting attention from other folks.... even if it is for all the wrong reasons. These people are attention seeking t*sspots that wouldn't recognise the front end of a real rod from the back!! But it's illogical to hold that against the car. As said before... the car has potential like some other moderns IF it is done right as some of the pics on here prove. There.... said it, nuff said!! ;D

Another interesting crooza..... How about a PT Cruiser that can do the 1/4 mile in 7.29 seconds at 198 MPH!!!! That is this PT Cruiser built by Nadeau Racing Specialist of Florida. This 2002 PT Cruser Pro Outlaw Street is the fastest PT Cruiser in the world!

I much preferred the original concept coupe.. How did it go so wrong that thing looks like a shoe anyway.... the one they built isnt any worse.. They are both horrific... heres a semi ok looking "lazy mans" hotrod to add to the mix...

The front bumper was always a compromise too far on the Prowler, sadly. I think both the Prowler and the PT have potential but something was lost in translation between concept and production that's been incredibly difficult to get back. For a pair of cars designed to appeal to the hot rod market, they've received perhaps the most abuse for doing so from hot rod owners and fans.

That said some realy nice cars came out of the states... the pt cruiser just isnt one of em...

I'd be a lot more impressed if the slicks were on the front, even more so if it were a four banger. Well I did say in my earlier post that for the words 'PT Cruiser' and 'hotrod' to be used in the same sentence the first thing you have to do is mount it on an RWD chassis. As far as the Prowler is concerned... Chrysler never said it was a 'hotrod'.... it was marketed as a 'retro roadster' as I recall. Those who claim it ain't much of a hotrod are falling into a pit they dug themselves. Think of it as an American 'Morgan'.... a traditional styling exercise in a modern package for those who want the best of both worlds..... but don't call it a 'hotrod' cos the manufacturer never did!!

Come to think of it, when I try to recall the advertising weren't both advertised as 'retro style, modern performance' or something like that? The hot rod influences to the design are clearly there, of course and maybe it's that which makes them appeal to so-called 'lazy' hot rodders or for use by hot rod owners as an interesting daily car. Mind you, I've seen a lot more PTs than Prowlers on the road, I think since they first came out I've seen 2 Prowlers but dozens and dozens of PTs.

Ah, the PT that drove through Halfords with the Tat Magnet turned to maximum. I don't know of anyone to whose taste that is with the exception of the owner.

Mind you, I've seen a lot more PTs than Prowlers on the road, I think since they first came out I've seen 2 Prowlers but dozens and dozens of PTs. The fact that they sold so many PT's says it all. Compare the number of PT's to Neons. Fact is that 99.9% of them were bought by folks who weren't looking for a 'pseudo hotrod' either...... they weren't rod enthusiasts...... they were just normal people who were getting bored with all the characterless hatchback 'shopping trolleys' the rest of the manufacturers were (and still are) trying to pass off as interesting! Good on Chrysler I say for doing something different whilst still meeting all the curse word legislation that 'Ace' is constantly reminding us all of, that is slowly choking the very individuality within automotive design that we all admire. I don't get some of the folks on here sometimes. I look at the new Golf, Astra, 207 and yawn.... For the past ten years I haven't been able to tell the difference between the models they are supposed to be replacing but many people on here would buy one for a daily. Personally I don't like the new Fiat 500, but I admire Fiat for not just giving us another boring eurobox hatchback. As for the Prowler..... it was LHD only, not good for sales here, and at £30k wasn't really in the same market as the PT.
