I had a 600 for about a year and it was the comfiest cruiser I've ever had, puts my merc c class to shame. I'd love an 800 coop. Boxiness ftw.

If only they'd stuck to 3.5 litres of V8 and RWD........ Here's my old 827 Sterling.... IIRC, the reason the Sterling flopped in the states is because it was a re-brand after Rover made such a pigs ear of trying to sell the cars there (dreadful build quality and materials.. sound familiar?). They had to pull out as Rover and re-launch under a different name...

Hateful things, scrappings too good for 'em!! I love 'em! The final shape ones were retro when they were new. I remember wafting around in my mate's old 827 Sterling, that was awesome!! I'd definately rock a Vitesse coupe...

Hateful things, scrappings too good for 'em!! Lol, agreed. I bought a 'good' one and in the seven months I owned it, it only chose to function on 7 days. It was low mileage, looked after and pretty damn tidy. That didn't stop it imploding at any given opportunity though. It was a hateful car and I was glad to get rid of it. Not owned a Rover since, which is a shame, as I liked them up until that car. Have some pictures of the heap... And just one of it's many, expensive failures... Chris

My dad had 2 Vitesse fastbacks and a Vitesse Coupe - not a days trouble with any of them. Felt proper quick for such a barge in the 90's!

It's such a shame that Rover have such a maligned image nowadays. OK, for sure their build quality was a little iffy on some cars and they had a habit of launching a car while not ironing out every single details, but a lot of marques have had their bad days. At least the hardcore fans (like on Rovertech.net or MG-Rover.org) do cherish them, although there is a lack of modded 800s (and for that fact 75s).

Funny, we had an 820i - what a ball of s**t!!! We only had it for a few weeks before my Da seen a bit if sense and bought another Sierra. The amount it had devalued in that few weeks was about as shocking as the drive quality

Still love them though never owned an 800 due to the complete fwd'ness of them..
Driven plenty though and rather liked them in vitesse and sterling flavour..
Though i do have a secret yearning for a really early 827 hatchback...I just don't tell anyone...

I loved my 820i. Comfiest thing I ever sat in.
Saw an 800 Coupe in a filling station yesterday. I pretty much came to a stop in the middle of the road with my mouth hanging open. They still look *all* that.

I like them, but never driven one yet. For some reason I really want the early 820 turbo, with the boost wound up ;D

I had an 827 Sterling. Amazing car. Very fast. Very comfortable, Very juicy and unfortunately very unreliable. It died on me one day and I tried 3 different garages that couldnt get it to start again. There was computers everywhere on it Lovely car while it worked. To be honest the 820's ive driven were not in the same league.
