I recently sold my daily E36 318is coupe to fund the procurement of this. The E36 was a fine dependable daily, but I felt myself wanting something a bit older, with a bit more character! It's a 528i with oxblood leather, a raid walnut steering wheel, and at some point in the last few years it's had an M-Tech kit put on it. Plans wise, I'm not sure yet, the front could do with coming down a touch but otherwise I'm happy. On Monday I decided to take my newly purchased E28 to the Pleasure Beach in Blackpool for a few pics. The light was failing by the time I got there so I only got a couple - but I'm pleased with em In background of the last one is the Big One rollercoaster, they were testing it and I pulled up at just the right moment!

That's very nice dude Cracking shots too! I especially like the 1st one Cheers! I was dead happy with the first photo, could have been taken at any time in the past 20 years, except for the gay GB banded plates on the car (getting binned) the modern parking meter, and behind the wooden roller coaster (the grand national) is the Big One, which they built in 1994... I live about 2 miles from Blackpool, and the pleasure beach is a great place to take photos

E28 are such a mean looking car in black, looks awesome. I'm currently saving to buy a 535 E34 but a 535 E28 would possibly sway me lol!

I think that colour in shadow line spec with oxblood interior is my favourie e28 spec.. It was for sale on the 5 series forum a couple of years ago and only distance stopped me buying it. It had a nice set of borbets on it at the time but I like the wheels you've got on it. Are there spacers on the front wheels to get them to fit?

Your car is stunning mate, any interior shots of the leather? I`m in the hunt for an e28 project too, can`t wait. Sold my e34 535 a couple of months ago, got 2 e30`s sitting on my drive so hoping to sell them soon.
nice car there!

Cheers for the comments, nice to see people love the car as much as I do ;D I spent the weekend at Edition 38 with this and it never missed a beat, did 400 miles in total over the weekend, and averaged 24.8 mpg including some mooching round Northampton on Saturday trying to find a Dominos pizza. Not bad considering on the way down it sat in a traffic jam for an hour, and was full of fuel, loaded up with 2 sets of camping gear, me and my 18 stone mate, and a set of 18" BBS RCs on the back seat. The girth in the rear proved to be an issue - managed to rub most of the writing off the sidewalls on the back... Even though it was a BMW at a VW show, the car got tons of positive attention and comments, and despite being a good show, Edition proved to me why I don't bother with VWs any more. As for photos, I'll post some more when I get chance to take some. I've not laid a spanner on it yet so I'm not sure what spacer or even suspension arrangement it has. A seed has been planted in my head for doing a M50 24 valve swap on the car, as the 12v in there is getting a bit long in the tooth. Does anyone know if the swap's relatively easy, or a ball ache?

I need to know more about those wheels! I think I've found some but the seller has no details on the specs. What make, size and offset are they? Love the dish...
RE: M50, it can be done but it will be a custom engine swap. I would be more positive about it if it was originally an M20'd E28 (520i, 525e). It won't mate up to your current gearbox, will need custom engine mounts, modded prop and gearlinkage, modified exhaust etc. They aren't a common swap in E28s. Unless you want a boost in MPG, I would drop in the 3.5 M30 and be done with it! Still it would a be decent swap, and if you used an M52 engine from a 328i then you could keep 2800cc on the log book! I've done an M50 conversion in my E21 and I was going to do an M50 in my E28 520i which I've now sold to Dez.
Seriously cool car...

Are you saying to transplant an M52 out of an E36 would be easily doable Rob, or no? I'd really prefer not to get into prop/linkage/exhaust manifold chopping if I have to. Are there any 'easy' swaps? ie use my gearbox with minimal chopping stuff about?
Wheel specs are 10J x 17 ET20 rears, and 8.5J ET13 fronts. The fronts have 'Hamann Motorsport' embossed on one spoke, and the rears don't. I'm not sure if it's running spacers, I'll have a look later.

Looks like I'll be buying some wheels then, I like those specs!
M50/M52 conversion will be exactly the same amount of work. They will need custom work for sure.
Is your E28 a manual or auto?
If you don't want to mess with much then hands down the M30B35 is the conversion for you! Same engine as the E28 M535i 535i, E34 535i, E32 735i. I believe the the E34 and E32 engines are slightly more powerful than the E28 engines. In fact I could have one out of an E32 for sale... Though I'm debating to fit it into an E21!

A very nice 528i which I would keep exactly as it is now. Pic #1 is my recent wallpaper, it just looks so right! The Hamann-wheels are very, very rare, even in Germany. Keep them, hide them away and have a look after a descent set of 17'' Alpinas for replacement.

Splits in winter may seem an odd choice, but I don't want to risk having an icy moment and wrecking one of the Hamanns on a kerb
