Loads are being released as bodies for proper RC cars. I do national racing so I'm pretty clued up to whats available. I think people on here would be interested in a few of them. Off the top of my head, you can get each of these in one scale or another: Reliant Regal Van Ford Escort Mk1/2/3 Ford Capri Triumph Stag Datsun 240Z Morris Minor Ford Granada Mk1 VW Golf Mk1 VW Beetle Split rear window and oval VW Camper (splitty) Toyota Starlet KP61 Pug 205 Dodge Charger Rover P4/5/6 Austin A55 Westminster MG/Wolseley/Austin Farina Land Rover Series I Renault 5 Maxi VW Corrado Mini Plus loads more.

Looks qual. Surely though with the scale speed of a mardave (or any RC) it's just gonna fall over all the time!? I take it the rc landrover is depressingly slow with an appalling turning circle and an ability to curse word oil everywhere except where it is needed....

Funnily enough I used to have a Mardave - great little toy. Moved onto bigger, nitro 4x4's after this place turned into a Wood.
Actually, I lie, it was a wood first and I just hadn't thought of that before buying ;D

BTW, If anyone doesn't know what a Mardave is, its one of THE most basic 'proper' RC car kits out there. Its also the cheapest, you could be ready to race at your local club for under £100. The V12 range are, very simply, a flat pan chassis made from HS30 steel, to which all the components are attached to. Usually raced on oval tracks like full size Hot Rods, the class is in general a non-contact formula.......until you find out you can enter the Banger Class. This is what the majority of Retro bodies were designed for. Save the real ones, trash the model ones. The low cost of spares means you can race on a tight bugdet, and if you have some sort of car control, you could become very skilled at the sport. I know of one guy who only ever raced Mardaves (considered the entry class into RC), until last summer, where he tought a 1/10th touring car and ended up finishing in the top 30 in the country! Put it this way, the most expensive spare on the list is £21 for a batteyr pack. www.mardaveracing.com/index.htmPics of mine: gazdesigns.fpic.co.uk/c763757.htmlAnd I've just remembered, theres a new range of van bodies out, Leyland Sherpa, Transit Mk2 and a Escort Mk1. Fantastic! I think I've just discovered what we might have to have on the Cambridge-Oxford OC stand at Ally Pally next year! I've got a bunch of RC stuff still at my mums - I did 2WD off roading before I started playing with real cars.

Land rover does look entertaining. Obv. VERY loosely based on an SI pick-up....the wings / body are sIII and the arches are c4 / defender, but other than that spot on.... [/pedant]

i *think* the skoda chassis is a Tamiya TY-01 maybe? was originally a 4WD Porsche 911 996 GT4 kit, but i fitted the skud shell. its made by a czech company, called 'Air Design' and you have to get the shell from them direct...so a 3,000 mile journey for another...thus, i only use it for speical occasions. the wheels are a bit chav, but they look good, and to be fair, i bought them to go with my Lambo shell...i've also converted it to RWD only now too
