There was nothing inside the car to steal! I don't know if they were disturbed or it was mindless vandalism but the doors were all still locked when I got to the car in the morning.
Some new glass only cost about £30 on eBay, it's bonded on with butyl tape and some glass primer that only cost a couple of quid so it wasn't too bad overall, just an inconvenience. You have to take quite a bit of trim off from inside and out to get at the glass plus the effort of cutting out all the old tape and broken glass.

Pic dump time! Both arches have now had their inner and outer skins cut away to good metal. The sills have been ground back, to reveal that the n/s is actually in pretty good shape. It just needed some surface rust taking off. The o/s needs a couple of plates welding as it has rusted around where the side-skirt fixings go. Inner sills look to be OK on both sides. I'm pretty happy with the general condition of the car to be honest, have seen a lot worse that's for sure. O/S O/S O/S N/S N/S

Things are coming along nicely. More pictures of the work: Sills plated: Inner arch repair made from an outer arch. Clever stuff: Near side freshly welded: Off-side welded and ground back Work started on the bodykit, bumpers and trim:

Well... Much like the JDM light clusters an opportunity for coilovers came up that I couldn't resist. I joined in on a group buy on MR2OC.co.uk that got us a fair old discount.
They're not going to be ready for 10 weeks though because I specified that I wanted 4 and 6 kg/mm springs so that it would hopefully be better to drive on the road. The standard is 8, which is more suited to track use. I have been told that they can be pretty jarring like that.
While I'm disclosing plans I would also like to say don't expect the paint to be exactly how it was pre rust repair. Always been a massive fan of 2 tone Toyotas from the 80s, so I'm actually going down that route.

White and black, yes. But like the factory two tone as seen on Jonnie's mk1a. Here's a random google images one: Oh, and have a photoshop I did way back in 2007. This car was in my head long before I even owned it

Saw my car for the first time in 3 weeks yesterday down at the bodyshop and she was in the spray booth! They have started by spraying some of the shuts and removable trim panels. It's being masked up now for base coat. This is the finish straight out of the gun also. It had not been cut, polished or anything. It's my birthday next week and I also received a parcel through the post... Some Bilt Hamber cleaning goodies! Ace present cheers to Mum and Dad Never used any of their products before so I may just have to wash the Golf this weekend! Chris

I got a phone call today to say that the base coat has been applied on the car. I haven't been able to get down to see it but the bodyshop kindly uploaded photos to their website. Here it is with the Super White 040 base-coat, the lower half is being masked off for the two-tone. Black (202) goes on. Then baked and de-masked The next stage is laquer. White and black are not always colours that require a clear coat but this ensures there is no step between the two colours. The whole car will then be polished and I can begin the arduous task of putting it back together. That is scheduled to start Thursday afternoon after I have a nice couple of days away camping in Cornwall. Chris

Cheers I'm not sure if there is another AW11 with the same colour scheme. I've certainly not seen it! *awaits someone to come along with pictures. More nice behaviour to report from the bodyshop. They let me in to their huge workshop on Good Friday early on in the morning so I could start reassembling the car. I had the place all to myself, including use of all the tools I could lay my hands on! Got a fair bit done. Rebuilt the front bumper with a new reinforcement bar. New bumper skin retainers and new bolts. Mated it to the car along with a new slam panel. Refitted the headlights and pop-up mechanism. Rebuilt the windows, doors, mirrors. Roof spoiler and trim back on. Rear bumper on. Couldn't do any more than that really as the body kit needs polishing still and a few white bits repainting. Aim to finish it off next Saturday.

ZOMG!!! Chris, I knew it was going to look cool....but I never imagined it looking quite that cool! Simply, just simply.....AWESOME and I have to say, the best looking MR2 I've seen. I'm a die-hard Mica blue fan (having owned four of them now) but you've just completely flipped that on its head and your Hachi-Roku inspired look works way, way better than it has any right to. I'm sat here grinning like a loon, so I can only imagine what you're like right now. Very well done, over the moon for you and you deserve it - every bit of it. Cannot WAIT to see it in the flesh (hopefully sooner rather than later....) *Edited because I guess you wouldn't like being called Chirs? Must check spelling before hitting the post button!
