Hello, It was great to find this forum. At local supermarket I accidently stubled upon to this mag "Retro Cars". After poking out the Google I found a forum but it seems to be dead and full of spam =(. Fortunately someone in there point out this place and here I am! ;D So, my ride is Citroen DSuper 71'. It is basically quite original but last winter I redo the interiour and added some tech inside. There is more info about that in: www.mp3car.com/vbulletin/show-off-your-project/139885-citroen-big-cat-twitch.htmlThe inside has black Citroen XM leather seats with electrics and all new carpets. Yet has lots to do tho, allso on outside... The outside is stock like the engine/transmission, but I am planning to have that fixed during next winter. I am planning to swap to a fuel injection, possible drop 5-speed box in and perhaps, just perhaps, an airconditioning system! If anyone has ideas and suggestions about the wheels, aircondition and fuel injection, I am all ears! Hopefully someone else is allso working on Citroen, namely D:s..??So that is my plans. I had my doubts about this project since in Finland there are way less than 100 cars on the road, but then again, if I make the "upgrade", this baby will roll on for many years, and it don't get dusted at carage or at some museum.

don't fit injection.... it just plane sucks! we have a ds pallas with the 2.3 carbed engine and its sweet as a nut, get driven everyday and hasnt let us down ever. The injection ones are the ones that are left at the side of the road in paris at the DSMEET as they overfuel and overheat... Not worth the hassle for no gains... Nice car you have tho.. nice to see someone playing with one and modifiying it... There was one in retrocars mag a few months back that claimed to be modified but i failed to see how.... appart from a sticker lol.... The 5 speed on the other hand is worth while! definatly do it if you can

Welcome to RR! Beautiful DS, I like the leather interior upgrade! How about Moon discs on the wheels? Maybe 16in steels and Moon discs... To me, the looks of the DS are so perfect, it's very hard to improve them!

Oh hi! I must have a picture somewhere of your car parked next to my GS at the Classic Motorshow in Lahti earlier this year (I'm that Dutch guy that speaks curse word Finnish). One thing you could do with your DSuper is drive to the Retro Rides gathering in the UK next year, I just got back from this year's edition with my GS ;-)

Hi all and thanks for replays! Its true that it is allmost impossible to make perfect better =) About the fuel injection, i was not planning to use the Citroen iE system, but make a better one... Thinking about Megasquirt and perhaps www.jenvey.co.uk/ throttle body... I have to renovate the cylinder head anyway next winter so there are some possiblities. Like fitting a 2 l CX fuel injected cylinder head to DY3 engine (; Fullmoons to the wheels are nice too. Citroen is very picky about the tyres thow, it is not good to alter the size and width of the tyres, it ruins the ride totally. It would be so cool to find Citroen SM rims, but they are filthy ££££... SM style hubs would do the trick too... Siert, yes, we saw at the Classics. Should think about the trip to UK. There were international 2CV meeting couple of years ago. It is nice to meet other Citroen people here too! And i did see the Aug 2010 RetroCars mag and actually ordered the issue, lets see what is in there. Overall DS is quite hard to modify since there is literally no aftermarket stuff, exept original parts. Found only some white side indicators but thats it... Alterations need to done by own hands =) But my intention was to keep the outside appearance as stock as possible, only add some details and it is nicely possible to mix different year models parts to get some looks. The technicks and interiour is another playground... Cheers!

Got the may 2010 issue of Retro cars mag. The DS (DSuper) on the cover is 4 speed, 2 litre standard D in my oppinion, exept for color from Nissan =) and mixed interiour parts. Interiour did look nice but altered? No. I think most D-models are altered more just during its everyday life before becoming a "hobby"...
So my ideas are mutch more radical, tho i do not alter the body, design or even the tecnical stuff like suspension. Well, exept perhaps lowering it a little bit and maybe add some stuff... Most certan mod will be on the engine. But i don't want to make it too mutch different. I have the idea of making my DSuper look like it was made in mid 90's =)
I am looking for side mirriors... The model in my mind is those 80/90's water drop shaped add-on sidemirrors... Anyone??

I've an early ID19 that is now running the later lhm system from a d super. love it to bits, such beautiful cars!

Lovely car, DS are properly special things. You will have a job fitting a 2 litre CX injection head as no 2 litre CX was ever injected, all carb

Thanks for replys.
I now decided to use the stock head, but have it fixed. I allready ordered the injector body and Megasquirt box. So here it starts. If I have the time I will allso find me a 5 speed gearbox. The aircon part of the project shall wait for now. Atleast untill I have enough parts (and money) collected together... I need to focus to rust, paint and interiour too...
cam, do you have any links to those cars you mentioned? Would be intresting to see couple of pics.
Anyone have ideas for the sidemirrors? I have a vision of teardrop shape aftermarket mirrors from 80's...

Beautiful car - had one for my wedding almost identical. Shame to loose the dunlopillow rear seats but the interior does look nice.
How about an engine from an SM? It's tried and tested although costly.............

SM engine takes sh*t-load of money to run, even in SM. Cant imagine the cost when spooning to DS =) A friend of mine works on SM. The engine took the biggest €€'s...
I have started the project for Megasquirting the old lump. I now got the injector body and i am collecting all the bits and pieces, fuel pump, pressure regulator, injectors, Lambda sensors, air sensors ect... After sylhead prep and MS treatment, in theory, the old 1985 cc engine could give about 140-> hp (if everything goes ok). That should be enough =)
The XM seats actually goes in really easily... Some modification was needed, especially on rear seats. But rear backrests are basically bolt in, with just minor modifications to the car. They even fold down =)

Pics added. Today I got the 5-speed gearbox in place, so now it is finally mainly building, not dismantling. I had to swap the brakes from my old 4-speed gearbox to this one and that is now on its way. Took two hours to clean them upp... The Megasquirt, Innovate LC-1 and Relayboard is finding its places. Only realyboard will be visible. Injector body is in place and gas pedal has been converted from rods to wire. Allso fuel lines are in place as fuel pump and filter. Should not take long before I can drop the lump back in the enginebay and start wring the MS. After that, it is basically waiting for first start =) It should be very intresting moment, since I haven´t done this big repairs on a car for many many years. Back in the early 90´s I build a 70´beetle and after that a 66 Kleinbus... It was long, long time ago... About modified DS, here is a nice one. www.rods-customs.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=17But I wonder if this was ever finished..? May be little over the top but still, nice figures...

Ok. The goddes has been awake for awhile now. Megasquirt works nicely and ebgine sound mutch better. Just lots of adjusting and tuning left so that I could actually take her to ride downtown. Fivespeed gearbox seems to work too... LHM, engine oil and water are holding in too. Yay! It was not that cheerful all the way. Timing was first wrong so needed to take the engine out again. It allso blacked two sets of plugs, exhaust exploded once and today the alternator gave away... bad connection, propably hurt something inside. But I am getting there, I am sure. ;D Pictures are added to my gallery. See link above posts. Cheers!
