that was my top trump... obviously our new ones wouldnt need a picture as they will be in the window of the car, an A4 colour version of that would use alto of ink to print... so consider black and white. it also needs a 'special powers' box for us to enter in all of our mods etc. might be best making the backround on Pshop them using it in word with text boxs to enter all the details (everyone has word and knows how to use it) is it time for another RR voting booth? people are going to have to take on jobs etc other hotwire will be rushed off his feet.... and he should be sitting back, relaxing, and enjoying the rr stand at C.A.R.S more that any of us. p.s. i think that name tags are plumb idea... i too would feel like a rite peenarse walking around with my name on my chest.

I really don't think people will bother to fill information panels in.
Probably best to identify problems which can stop people joining in such as: a) Not knowing who people actually are b) Not feeling welcome enough c) Clique issues
In the XROC some people have tops with there username on them, can really help as you don't often actually introduce yourself to people, you just end up talking.
I think getting people to join in at shows is increadably hard really. People in this scene are often shy too.
In my experience getting people to convoy down together helps a lot.

I saw the thread title and thought 'A3 Tomp Trumps card leaning against the front bumper' :/
Window's a good idea...Just have to make sure the cars aren't too close together.

I agree with MWF, perhaps because we are both from Wolverhampton and have a similar pessimistic streak ;D People will need to feel welcome and the risk of the cliquishness would put off a few less confident folk. Also people would want to be able to look around without being swarmed on too much, so its a difficult balance to get right. Some good ideas so far though. I'm going to come and have a look round with Mrs Chunkster (who would like me to point out is not of chunky proportions) I like the idea of parking the cars in a circle perhaps with the show stoppers in the middle?

I like the idea of parking the cars in a circle perhaps with the show stoppers in the middle? f&cked if they want to go down the strip then tho .... I'm sure this will sound like me being a curse word and I'm not meaning to be, but we cant design everything to be 'wrapped in cotton wool' so those not on R-R and less confident will feel better. At the end of the day if they arent happy introducing themselves then the likliness is that no matter what we do it wont change that. IMHO we gotta put together a welcoming stand that is what the people on R-R want, without worrying too much if we seem unapproachable to people not yet on R-R. Afterall, you will never please everyone. If you refer to R-R'ers being less confident then i suggest we have a BBQ on fri and camp over with plenty alcohol. Alcohol removes all inhibitions lol. ;D

In my experience getting people to convoy down together helps a lot. Convoys are a must for sure... plus there are a lot of people camping.. I'll make myself more evident this year (hopefully with my new T-shirt from Japan ) ... It would be good if a few people could have T-shirts of hoodies with their name tags on them.. Don't forget the RR/AA T-shirts and hoodies as well. I really like the top trumps idea. Stuck in the window would be best I think. Line up wise I think the boulavard is the best idea as it will attract people "in" to the stand... it also allows that that want to race to be on the outside for easy access. And will make a great photo oppurtinuty. Perhaps if we have the center of the stand with a gazebo (or two as there are so many of us!) and the support bus(s) for full on lounge area. I think CARS is 50/50 between us meeting up and meeting new people!

MWF, at the end of the day, if you cant be botherd to quickly fill in a thing about your car to put in the window you don't have to... we cant make you do things lol. and i think that most people on here seem pretty keen so far.
we can get a roll of sticky lables and write our names on them... hehe, cheques shop sell those cool wrist bands... will be a game trying to spot them...

If you can get people to do it it's great. But we never had much luck with that kind of thing in my Mini club.

the Convoy Idea worked well last year, also most people kind of introduced themselves, E.G. DarrenW Wondering over to myself with a nice bottle of Jenga. Quality moment.
The Idea of Top Trump card on the Car is excellent, and I think most people on here will want to fill out the form. As for the BBQ well I will have a camping stove with me if its of any use.

Wrist band sounds nice and descreet. we all seem to get on so if we notice each other it could be easy, or, some could wear their car (picture) or similar on a t shirt. I went to a MR2 track day meet on my bill after being a member 2 minutes, that was damned challenging but seemed to work out!

I think MWF has a really good point about introducing people, welcoming members etc. I know from previous experience that you'll get people bring their car to a show yet not put it on the stand.
Maybe for a shift of an hour a time people could be delegated as meeters and greeters, make an effort to say hi when someone comes up or puts their car on the stand, that kind of thing?
If all you do at a show is look at cars then it can be a bit dull, IMO always far better when you're chatting about stuff with like-minded people. And it can be a bit intimidating for newish members if they see well established groups, cliques, whatever, so they won't get as much out of it.

Rarely does any group want to establish a clique but sadly when groups of friends develop it can make it very hard for people to feel welcomed in. You only need one person to welcome people and into the fold, but sadly that can mean that one person may have to give up a lot of group social interaction to actively go greet new people as they arrive. Or sort of designated mincer. Car club dynamics are always pretty fascinating things. Back when I was on the commity of my local Mini club it was tough thinking of situations that would encourage a bit of mingling. I also think that Keefy is right, the door swings both ways and people do need to make an effort to get involved.

As in just making an effort. yes that will go a long way, there will still be members on foot in normal dress too, who we wont even know who they are i recon too, just come over. From what i have seen here most are nice folks anyways, so so long as everyone is friendly on the day it should be very successful for putting names, and alias' to faces!
