goddamnit I'm surrounded by junk cars that don't work and just seem to get rustier every time I look. Anyone else find themselves demotivated by the magnitude of what they are taking on, and on, and on.... I've been playing with cars for 20 years now so you'd think there'd be one nice tidy well sorted car on my drive by now. You'd be wrong.

Ha ha, yeah its easy to get like that, I have got years and years of work to sort out all my fleet, then what would I have? A load of worthless wibblepoo cars in good nick. But It doesn’t matter, I am happy to own them and I am lucky to be able to store them all, or at least I will be soon. Are you making headway on the work to be done or is it gaining on you, I mean are your cars rusting faster than you can square them up? That’s where it can get demoralising, and the only answer is lashings of waxoyl and/or dry storage.

wondering this as i contemplate a 4th that i could live without, i have all these big show busting old customs in mind but seem adicted to collecting bargain unloved 80's tat. Never realised how much i like this newly retro stuff but lack the space and time and money to do it big. all the fleet will be rat look till i win the pools or summat, just hope to get the big project road worthy by CARS now.
Time for this again...

it doesn't matter if it's a Morris Marina or a Toyota Celica - it's what you do with it that counts

You have no idea how hard it is to not buy projects and to just slug on with the one in the garage that's been going on for far too long! I can't wait to get it out the way and crack into something else!!! ANYTHING ELSE BUT THIS DAMN ANGLIA!!!

I'm convinced that the number of working cars you will ever own is inversely proportional to the total number of cars you own...

Cycle bikes also in 3 seperate temp locations! Looking forward to reanimation villa's at the next month, light at the end of the tunnel!

The problem with this theory is that you will still buy useable cars, which means you have to tax, mot, insure, clean and maintain them all

I've only got the one, which needs to be roadworthy every day so I set small tasks that I can achieve in a single day. Each small task adds up to getting it finished - eventually! I think AlistairK is doing wonders on the Ventora.

I came close to offering it to a lad I know who's looking for one either earlier today or yesterday.
I'm a bit nobbed off that I've taken three days off work to work on it and haven't had chance to tough it once yet. And I've got to go in to work tomorrow now.

On my three days off so far I have managed to:
Deal with a number of queries about our company's mobile phone port from Vodafone to o2. Deal with a number of queries about remote working PC deployment strategy. Lined up two new candidates to replace the **** who said they were starting monday but has since taken a job with another company. Fretted about the fact our main office replacement PC rollout is behind schedule and hassled people about it. Attempted to fix our washing machine, failed and booked an engineer to call next week. Taken 3 months worth of beer & wine bottles to be recycled. Moaned about not getting any work done on my car on the internet. Visited father in law in hospital. Weeded front garden. Made cursory examination of brake fault on Oldsmobile.
Hmmm... I have been busy, just not at what I was hoping to do.
Tomorrow another prod round the Oldsmobile brakes then I have to go into work to interview two guys who hopefully can start monday or I'm screwed.

On my three days off so far I have managed to: deal with loads of boring stuff and look at doing desperate maintenance Hmmm yeah sounds like my days off recently. Got filming to plan, and to finish the car for CARS, started a few easy jobs and got some insurance quotes (where its loads more to insure with any 'M' postcode!) after all that and achieving not much i got wondering when it will fit in , and its tempting to sell up, wheres the fun in that though As Mr B said you are doing a cracking job on that old Vaux. get another week off, its gonna be great when its done. Ill take the same advice

LOL at Mr_B, even your modest progress makes me look positively sedentary. I washed one of my cars two weeks ago. That's about it. More fun buying them than working on them, at least in this cold weather it is.

I seem to be buying a car a month at the mo, maybe more often than that even. Noticed that! I think i'm following suit too, Saw neat mk1 Cavalier at Tesco's tonight that i really wanted, i kept going on about it. GF was getting really pi$$ed off and stating the obvious realities money/space/time/one working, two not etc etc. I said i've got a hobby collecting, she said I have got an illness! BTW bo11ox, you're doing a great job, the collecton is keeping me entertained!

I used to do that. Easier and quicker (and often cheaper) to buy another one than fix the one that just conked out. I owned 16 cars at one point. And then none of them worked!
I think I've been expressing my frustrations against the car(s) when theres other things holding me back. Me being one of them at the moment...
