Looking at the way that crossmember mounts it looks like it would be possible to modify the crossmember itself to raise it rather than the shell. Those four "stubs" on the crossmember could be dropped relative to the rest of it. No shell mods for that one so no BIVA risk. Need to check there's room for the top arms though. It looks like the steering box must be mounted to the bulkhead/chassis in which case you ought to see what raising all the track rods may do to the steering geometry. You may also need to raise the box by the same amount on a bracket or something.

Yeah, I'd say chopping the cross member rather than the chassis would be the easier option. It would be easier to keep the strength that way I'd have thought, as well as avoiding the IVA issues mentioned.
