Right just a quick werid question since ive had my manual choke fitted to the polo there is a nasty rattle in the dash.
Now ive tapped up everythink i can think off, only makes the noise when the choke is on. anyone else had this problem?
Just another question, anyone got a full cage fitted as with mine she seems to get a nasty shake on her sometimes when you are sitting in traffic?
Any ideas as doing my head in.

the shake of the cage is when the idle hits the right frequency of the cage to vibrate maybe? i know in my golf sometimes the idle drops really low and the whole cars shakes like a curse word

Sounds like the choke cable is touching something when the choke is out, but the slight movement of the cable is enough to stop the rattle when the choke is in...

... the only injury I sustained was a bumped head when I let the seatbelt of without realizing the car was upside down and that's not really the car's fault.

When sat in traffic i have no choke on, and she is idle 1000 rpm or just lower, but she gets a nasty virbration on her, and feel like an earthquake and then it passes ?
I just wondered if anyone else had this maybe? And if so how they stopped i.t

Now ive tapped up everythink i can think off Lowpolo, I am sorry but I couldn't help sniggering at that. Yeah the rattle defo sounds like the choke cable chafing against something. Try to trace it back through the bulkhead and see if it passes very close to something solid, which it could rattle against.

I'd agree with the general consensus here that it's your choke cable hitting something when it's on. Not sure about the nasty rattle at low revs, I own a stripped out Imp so I've sort of just accepted ear-splitting noise and uncontrollable shaking as normal in a car. ;D

as said - check the choke cable first of all. You may find it only does it for a sec cos thats as the engine and car settles after being revved/driven. The fact that it only does it for a second doesnt eliminate the choke cable.
regards the cage, is it bolt in? Could it be something not quite tight enough, like a door bar or similar??

we have been outside and seen what causes the choke cable to rattle thats all sorted, and yea the cage is a bolt in, but what I'm saying is you get the vibration though the pedals, gear knob, you can even see the driver wing mirror glass rattle

but what I'm saying is you get the vibration though the pedals, gear knob, you can even see the driver wing mirror glass rattle no, you didnt say that! ;D and if the vibration is through the pedals etc then where does the cage come into all this?

because she has only started doing this since the cage was fitted, so I'm guessing it somethink to do with the cage.
The wheels come back when i can find some were to refurb them, well acid dip and sort the curbs out , that don't cost the earth.

is the car now idling lower than previously, or as it usually does when warm? As Ed described above is what i would logically think of. I know my benz idles awefully on startup and vibrates a bit. i cant think of any reason why bolting in a cage would cause your pedals to vibrate.

right ok,
When the choke is on she idles at 1500 rpm with choke on , when you start her up, then her normal idle is between 800 rpm to 1000 rpm, but then when you sit in traffic when she is not needing her choke or anythink, she has a massive vibrating session on me, which comes though pedals and gear knob but i know a gearbox has a small vibration normally this is a mental sorting of shaking, not like the car is gonna stall, It does it then pass and its only done it sense cage and new engine etc
