Very Nice ;D ;D Might sound daft but what does it take to convert those to RWD. Is it all bolt on or is it a case of chopping and modifying to get it to rwd gear to fit If I recall correctly, the chassis is designed for both FWD and RWD installations...It;s the same basic lot as the 2000 and Dolly, no? *n

That is a quality sleeper! i didn't know the FWD and RWD bodyshells were identical either, excellent BL part-mongering!

Well, no - the 1500 existed BEFORE the Dolomite range was concieved - it was FWD, then later the rear-drive floorpan was concieved in preperation for the 4WD model, which never happened. (although bits for them are still about - canley sold a box recently!) As a result, pretty much Dolomites (when the range was released) took on spitfire powertrains, then the slant four engines for the top of the range models(basically), because that's what they had to use ;D To convert this - Sprint subframe, propshaft, transmission tunnel, loom, rear axle, brakes, supsension, were used. All holes for things existed though, most of them were just bunged up with rubber stoppers Only major bit missing was the transmission tunnel I'd post pics of the FWD interior, sans transmission tunnel, but can't find a suitable pic atm - these cars are very thin on the ground.

Thankyou It'll be at CARS, of course! Sporting some other tasty bits by then too! Guy I bought it off had a set of NEW Compomotive Lattice alloys, in black and silver, but I didn't really think they suited it. I'm thinking of the 1850 steels I have in my shed....... ;D

You swine! ;D You've no idea how confused I was by this thread until you admitted it had been made pretty much into a Sprint, the alarm bells started ringing with the Sodomite Sprint alloys, then the dash didn't look right, (I even went on the Austin-Rover website to see if I was imagining it, which confused me greatly, because I saw this picture, compared to your interior shot, and thought "What does he mean it's all original?! The man's been had!" or words to that effect, ;D then the engine REALLY didn't look right, then I moved the page down a bit and realised your wicked deception! ;D ;D Cool motor by the way, real sleeper. What you need now is a hot Stag V8 to go in there and make it even more unoriginal! ;D

One thing I have considered - in my eyes, this is effectively what a 1971 Sprint prototype (135) would have looked like. Early shell, no detailing, just the powertrain - old interior too. For some reason I find that quite cool in a retro way Am quite tempted to badge it up as a 135 ;D But no, the badges will be staying, 1500 FTW! (although am quite tempted by a 2000 badge on the back, same font and style, just to confuse teh curse word out of everyone!) First car I've had though that goes "POP-flame" from the exhaust Find me some Corsas to toast!
