Glasgow to Moscow sounds good...i was sort of thinking of heading from Newcastle to norway, and sweeden, down into poland, czech, slovakia, alphs, then up through france... would rock Why not combine both routes, greating a Glasgow-Moscow-Glasgow OTT as seen below, impossible to organise mother of a rally, taking in most of Europe, giving us perfect opportunity to indoctrinate the inhabitants of every town and city we come accross into the ways of Retro Rides (best print of several million RR flyers beforehand! ;D) Of course we'd have to alter the route slightly, in order that we actually stick to possible routes and don't drive through fields, houses, rivers, Chernobyl etc, and in order to take in more backroads, town and cities, and homes of RR members that we could stop in on/crash at for the night along the way! ;D ;D (Provided you have enough room in your spare room/living room/garage/garden/cellar for an army of knackered travellers to crash out, and enough room on the street outside or on your drive for a ridiculously large fleet of retro motors. Otherwise we'd just go to a B&B. ;D ;D ) Other than that I see no flaw in the plan whatsoever. ;D ;D

Nah, the Imp'll be fine, it'll make the perfect campsite, set up the tents next to it, and spend the evening warming your hands and roasting marshmallows over the flames coming out of the engine bay after every leg of the journey. ;D ;D

Only just caught up with the pic's and story here, what a trip! Hope the Spottedlaurel family will be happy to do such adventurous things in years to come.
Love your planned route Rev, but what about Romania for the Dacias and former Yugoslavia for old Zastavas?
If you can ever do some long trip in convoy with fellow enthusiasts you should jump at the chance - I went to a show in Norway via Holland, Germany, Denmark and Sweden with three other cars from the DOC and it was one of the best holidays I've ever had. CB's are good for keeping in touch en route, handy for "wow look at that...." conversations.

I'm actually kicking myself at how many interesting countries I left out, we could head for Ireland, Romania, Yugoslavia, Spain and Portugal too but we may have to shorten the route somewhat because the rally would end up being a year long event! ;D ;D I'm sure we could find a ferry route going from Spain or France to Ireland though, then from Ireland go to Stranraer and from there back to Glasgow on the way back though. Do you mind us crashing out at your place Blue850? ;D ;D And I suppose we could miss out the Baltics a little and cut straight from Moscow to Kiev, then down to Bucharest then Belgrade. We'd definately have to keep Poland in the route though so that we could stop at the Cafe Retro! ;D And don't' worry Spottedlaurel, I'm well up on the joys of CB radios, I pretty much grew up in lorry convoys, used to love winding people up over the CB! ;D ;D
