I must say a MASSIVE thank you to a few RR guys who have really helped me out this week.
Sleeperviva & Spiny for fitting my coilovers on the MX5 at the weekend while I was busy on Project 'X'...and also being patient while I kept adjusting them lower & lower (now riding on the lowest setting!)
Rich for taking the car off to his work place to try and get the hubs off/change the wheel bearings. Unfortunately the driveshafts were siezed solid and Rich was defeated....but thanks anyway mate
Also to Rich again for his late night, drunken chopping up of my original exhaust, chopping up a stainless back box and making a hybrid exhaust from the two. Sounds to die for! Need to find more tunnels...
A HUUUGE thank you must go to Ian for welding the sills up. Not just any old weld, but some seriously cool fabrication skills. OEM look repair panels FTW!! Epic work and I really appreciate you giving up your time last night.
Thanks you very much guys ;D
Thanks also must go to all those who helped out in one way or another over the weekend. Without you guys my new daily would still be riding at hairdresser altitude.
I took the car for its first proper run last night. 200+ mile round trip to Ian's down in Torquay where he kindly welded the sill until pretty late. Feeling bad that it was nearly midnight by the time it was finished (thanks to a big accident on the M5 I didn't get there unitl 7pm!) I was about to say my thanks and head off when he says "You might want to lock your car up, we're going for a spin"
Some cool late night off roading and a quick tour of Torquay later we find ourselves on the beach. Lucky I brought my camera along!
It was a brilliant and very unexpected trip out. The lanes were great and I need to get back down sometime to get some better shots of your car. Thanks again for everything Ian I had a brilliant night. ;D
On the way home I was feeling a bit tired (about 2am by this point) so I decided to pull into the services which were completely deserted. 10 mins break and I decided to take advantage of the empty car park and get some shots of the newly lowered '5
With the new stance, the new splitter I treated it to and most of the mechanical problems fixed I'm really enjoying this thing. Blatting up the motorway and then the 'diversion' route up the A370 to enjoy the twisty bits....roof down, 3am - motoring bliss!
Damn I love Retro Rides and the people within.
