You're on. I'm not betting pink slips though! Few things glenanderson and Frankenhealey 1. We haven't been to Prescott for a few years. Sorry, I'm old and all hills look the same (except for Gurston, of course!)2. We can't time the event at Shelsley so technically you couldn't race for pink slips even if you wanted to. The Goddess has a super-duper GPS speedo with all sorts of trickery so I'd be OK and glenanderson is bound to have a stopwatch.3. We don't have pink slips reg docs are green and blue. Correct and I can confirm that I don't have a pink slip of any sort but who knows what's in Glen's underwear drawer?4. I would be more than happy however to accommodate you both just before the lunch time break for a single run "spectacular". I hope to be attending this year but I believe Glen may not be ready so if you'd like both of us then we'd better pencil in 2018/195. It would however as stated be just one run because I think we would struggle with room for any other participants with you at the top of the hill. One run would probably be enough if I 'rolled coal' all the way up the hill 6. The above is because it would draw all the people to the viewing areas - leave the food stands quite and I could go and get a cup of coffee and some food and still be back in time for you to come back down the hill (selfish B'stard that I am). I don't see the fascination with poor coffee and lukewarm burgers but you certainly do deserve a proper lunch break so I shall bring cake and sandwiches on the day.All I see is win in that!!! Back to the 12/24V question - is there a stop and/it cold start solenoid on the pump and if so, what voltage?.. Glow plugs? Or have they already been addressed?
Alternator and starter are the obvious ones, of course. Start looks to be sorted and I assume the charging side is equally so.

There is a cold start arrangement on the Bosch VE pump and all that needs is a 12 volt temp sender in the inlet.

fools seldom differ.... how rude!! Oi! While you lot are making fun of stuff, half my crew are hors de combat as Dangerous has found that using your leg as a lever can lead to your hip popping out leading to a regular diet of Tramadol and Codeine cocktails. His nickname is truly deserved.

I feel like the kid who has opened all his presents and played with all the toys and is now a bit puzzled over what to do now. I've invested many, many hours of the last couple of weeks in the SpridJet, 2CVs, Healey and now Green (Red?) Goddess threads.
Mr. Ian, sir, if it's OK to call you by your first name, I am in awe of your commitment to your fantastic vehicles.
Also your attitude here and writing style are brilliant. Some day I hope to shake your hand. Keep up the outstanding work.
Re 12-24v transformers, as a lad, I worked on Zetor farm tractors. They were Czech built, all electric bits copies of Bosch etc. The "Crystal" range, especially the 6 pot, started on 24v and ran on 12v. A simple changeover relay box under the cab seat. It Could be another cheap source. And they were a big, truck sized, low rpm engine.

While Dangerous is on the sick list (back at work but on light duties) I had a go at some of the small jobs that have needed doing. This included deciding (at last) whether I was going to use the Transit pulley (5 ribs) or the Cummins pulley (8 ribs) on the alternator. On mature reflection (that took 6 months) I decided to use the stronger Cummins 8 rib belt as to change the belt would be a radiator and intercooler out job. So the Cummins pulley had to be modified to fit the Transit alternator. Then we needed a blanking plug as we're not using the power steering pump. Two reasons why (1) it would be a curse word of a job to do a conversion and (2) Muriel Kilvert didn't need no steeeenkin' power steering. Muriel was a 5ft 3 ins, 8 stone, retired headmistress who essentially drove a converted Goddess around the world, shipped from Liverpool then across Canada east to west, down the US west coast and down through Mexico, back up to San Diego and got the Goddess shipped to India, through India and Pakistan, up the Khyber pass and through Afghanistan and Iran, through Turkey, Greece, shipped to Italy then across Italy, up through Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, Holland and across the North Sea with NO power steering. I could have made the bung with an O-ring groove but are we not men? Do we not have Loctite 5922 Flange Sealant? Yep a plain bung will do unless it leaks. Then I'll groove it.

Wow. That sounds like an awesome story. I bet Muriel didn't manage it in 80 days like Phileas Fogg.

so, question, how is the cummins pump (no sniggering) driven? direct off a camshaft or similar ?

so, question, how is the cummins pump (no sniggering) driven? direct off a camshaft or similar ? If it's the power steering pump you are alluding to then it's off the back of the compressor which I am keeping for various reasons (1) the clutch is air assisted which means that I won't need a left leg like He-Man and (2) Confucius say 'He who has working compressor in paddock gets free beer' or similar. If it's the injection pump then it's driven off the timing gears in the front case which by coincidence also drives the compressor. Seemples and very robust.

yeah it was the PAS pump in previous reply, not even considered outside the realms of belt driven !
