what a about using a Hi-ab lift?... hear me out. Like this.. Tiny picture- all I could find. Rather than use that hefty frame above the car in above photo you could use the old style strops with nets under the wheels- nothing will get damaged or marked. But hey- could then be used for all sorts of things eh? Hang massive gazebo style tent from hiab over race weekend. Got to change exhaust? No worries... use the hiab. Need to replace gearbox oil...use hiab. Person parked your driveway entrance...use hiab. I'm sure they can be picked up quite cheap.

hats off to you sir! the build is comming together, and you should be chuffed with the cab, it is a very neat and tidy job!! I'm gunna be watching this thread with anticipation :-)

Yeeeees, I had considered a HIAB but still want to keep it as old-skool as possible so ramps and lift is about as far as I want to go.

One of the reasons for a transporter is that I suffer from TRS (Trailer Reversing Syndrome) i.e. I can't reverse trailers for sh1t . I have tried to get the Department of Health to officially recognize this as a disability but they're unwilling to give me a blue badge to make up for it. ;D As an aside I've just got back from the Jersey Festival of Hooning About with the thing to be transported. I really want the Goddess working next year!

Evening everyone, I've been a lurker on this site for a while now but I was also at the Jersey International Motoring Festival and was lucky enough to meet up with "Mr Frankenhealey". If the Green Goddess ends up half as good as the Healey it will be an amazing vehicle for sure. There weren't many cars there that were faster than the Healey but I think Nakajima's old Lotus just about had it on the straights. The Jersey IMF is a great event with some top blokes and their cars and I would recommend it to anyone in the vicinity in 2012. P.S. Was that picture taken on the last day? If so, good to see the screen still raked back.

i understand your trailer pains. I mean i'm not inflicted with the problem myself but i have watched many who are and yep- you certainly wouldn't want to jack knife that beautiful healy. just spotted that your healy is all road legal. Ace! Did you drive it to the jersey ferry?
Did bergerac race in his triumph roadster? :-)

Nope it was taken on Saturday at Westmount. Raking the screen put me only 0.3 second behind the V12 E-Type but I had a higher terminal speed at 121 mph. Shows the problems of getting the power down early with skinny tyres. Sadly I had to call off the Mount Bingham Hillclimb on Sunday due to the showers The mantra for driving the Healey is "Dangerous in the dry but suicidal in the wet" ;D

yoeddynz Not having completely dismissed your HIAB idea and then I found this for sale on Fleabay The Healey could go on either of the beds and the other could be used for living accommodation. Two problems 1). It wont fit down the tunnel at Goodwood ;D and 2). 4.2 mpg on a good day Cheers, Ian

What about making a tilt and slide bed for it? You could get it to go a way over the back so the angle was pretty low, like the long skips...

Once again a bit modern. I was just yanking yoeddynz about over the Foden 6x6 but I bet he's working now how to turn it into a duplex housetruck ;D On other news the super head is now on and a low-loader comes this afternoon to take her off to the welders. The low-loader guy swears he can get into the field gate from the very narrow lane and I have a small bet with him that involves hat-eating that he can't! Pictures later

Loving the progress on this, will be a fine match for the Healey when done, +1 on the hat eating photos., most low loader drivers know exactly what their rig'll do....

No Meat Hats were worn or eaten in the preparation of this post What a day The low-loader was turning up at 1.30pm. At 12.30 I got a call from the wife saying they'd turned up, had taken the locked gate chains off and were dragging the Goddess sideways across the field as the wheels were solid. A few questions with the gentlemen concerned elucidated that they were not a low loader but the local Banger Boys. I asked them to wait as the Goddess on the back of their beavertail was going to be too high to pass the tree branches in the gateway and I didn't want the lovely new cab ripped off. With this going through my mind the emergency drive back from work was interesting to say the least. I passed them on the way back sans Goddess and found that they had used the Goddess as a plough across the field, scoring great grooves the the turf, given up and gone on. To add to my joy the tarpaulin had been removed from my lovely dry roof and it had started to pee down. No. 1 son, my secret weapon in all things 'Truck', arrived and we got to work on the conundrum of the locked wheels with the high tech kit below 30 minutes was all it took to free off the drums so Goddess Boys 1 : Banger Boys 0. We the dragged her up and down the field with a borrowed Landy (thanks Vinny) to make sure she could be extracted again. It continued to pee down and the roof has now got a small leak. We were both soaked and depressed as hell we left her looking all forlorn not wanting to put the tarp back on the wet roof and went down the pub. It was the only sensible thing to do. Tomorrow the Banger Boys return and entensive negotiations means she'll be towed out of the field onto the lane to be put on the beavertail. More pictures later. Still haven't worked out how they got the gate off. WORRYING!
