Can i apply for membership to the 'Fit cummins 6b/bt in a bedford' club?! Ive just aquired the front half of a scrap leyland daf 45! Its got a 6b (Non turbo) and ZF s5-42 box, Its been in a field for 4 years, It was a good runner pre accident apparently, It turns over so i took a punt, Might see if i can get the ZF power steering box to fit the RL aswell. Plan to start it all in the new year. If you do it you're automatically a member. If you post pictures here and share the information the you can be Club President. There's also a lot of current interest in this on the RSOLES group on Yahoo. Cheers, Ian

Thats excellent, Cheers for posting it up, As mines N/A hopefully it wont require as much chassis/Cab cutting on the O/S, I'm going to start removing it all from the scrapper after xmas and the guys got cutting gear i can use which means i can have some chassis bits with any relevant brackets etc.

Just spent the past couple of days reading this and all I can say is brilliant work, fantastic read. Never really knew anything about the goddesses other than that the army used to roll about in them when the fireman went on strike.

A Merry Christmas and a Happy Retro Rides New Year from the Goddess Crew We moved the old girl into some winter storage today. Started on second turn of the key and ticked over like a good 'un. Brakes worked and no engine conk-outs but we only moved her a mile from the field. Still quite shiny after 5 months in the great outdoors but the roof has started to leak and she needs a chance to dry out. A local farmer is kindly offering her a temporary home until Spring. Waiting to get into the Barn. After much backing up, missing a boat mast and the parked caravans we got her snugged up. The sheep are still stunned that the big red roof and scratching post has disappeared.

Now I wish I could find somewhere like that locally - limited garage space sucks when you have projects you want to be getting on with Sadly he won't let me re-engine her there but I've been given permission to build a large 'temporary structure' at work to keep her under cover while we shove the Cummins in. I shall be working over the holiday to work out how to effectively reuse the wood from the sheleter to eventually make something like this. Rocking up at a posh RV site with something from a hippie convoy really appeals

Back out of hibernation with the roof covered in Sparrow sh1t . We moved her the 10 miles to work and sheeted her down temporarily. Went like a dream so now feel bad about the engine change. I cannot now build the temporary structure as previously advised so all the work is going to be done in the great outdoors. BUM! The good part is I can use one of the fork trucks as an engine crane. YAY! The engine's been sold to a nice man who doesn't seem to be worried about 8mpg and I go to look at a Daf 45 based horsebox at the weekend to see if it's a suitable engine/box donor. All the lady who owns it knows only that horses go in it for jolly day trips involving jumping, dressage and rosettes (fingers crossed). It's the only donor I can find local to me and the cost of getting a lorry brought down from Wales or Scotland beggars belief. While we wait to get under way I give you my latest thoughts Stepside Chevy's. PAH! Stepside Beddy's. For the Win! I love this so much I may have to build one on the basis of my split-screen's better than your split-screen

Yep BUT no room for stack pipes unless you'll accept horizontal stack pipes fair enough. howz about a horizontal silencer (with no silencing ability, we need to hear turbo spool) under front crossmember with an ankle warmer exit in front of the front wheel? it will cost you way less than buying enough stainless pipe to get to the back bumper....

Greetings. What's happening with your other engine swap project? SpridJET? If so we've worked out a way to put the turbine the engine bay which will make it a little less scary if total catastrophic failure occurs as below and I've been on jet engine and aerodynamics forums trying to pick up tips and info before blundering down blind alleys and such like. It's all so different from Otto cycle engines . The Lenham bodywork has been ordered and as soon as it arrives we're going to have to work on some radical spoiler/splitter ideas. Think something like this

Mmmmm don't think there's any amount of Kevlar you could put in a race suit that protect you from that kind of damage!

Mmmmm don't think there's any amount of Kevlar you could put in a race suit that protect you from that kind of damage! The 'cone' of destruction from a turbine wheel letting go is 45 degrees. Hope to be using a bonded steel/kevlar/aluminium spatter shield to protect me vitals
