In this photo, is there any bare frame or does the glass go right to the edge? Sadly there is a long piece of formed ally that goes over the whole length of the top of the dash and covers all the cr4ppy wiring. It's only secured along its top edge and there is either no room or space or strength to use internal catches.

Alternatively is it possible to fit a secondary seal on the very inner edge. It may be, watch this space

I may be able to procure some 1/4 turn sprung brass clamps - I don't have a photo handy but they are fitted to an English Electric Class 37 as sunvisor clamps (and battery box lid clamps, water filler clamps etc, etc). Mounted externally, they'd look good polished up...

They're still used all over Africa, India and Pakistan. It made me look for some inspiration. Have some Bedford pictures for ideas for a slightly more luxurious expedition truck and an idea for my next project. Wonder if any are still left?

Good and bad news this week. The modified tilt with the new front zips fits really well. The wrinkles WILL drop out. BUT the rear of the tilt half-covers the slow vehicle lights due to repositioning the numberplate assembly AND we've got Swifts or Swallows in the unit and the little beggars are cr4pping on the truck and I don't have the heart to shoot them The cut-down box corners and the Dzus fasteners were originally quoted at 2 weeks but came back bright nickelled in 36 hours. BUT trying a little light fettling on the Bakelite window demister and finding it as brittle after 50 years as something out of Tutankhamen's tomb and the really really big commercial battery finally turned up Tomorrow cab painting starts!

The old girl is looking superb, its a bit of a bummer about the demister, don't know how it will stand up to heat or how hot your demister gets, glue and baton it back together, fill n smooth the break, then paint it this colour,Vauxhall Brazil Brown , a surprisingly good match for Bakelite,

W-A-N-T. No, really, really serious WANT hereOld trucks rule! Saw this and love it! Would make a cool hauler if you could get the car in the taker part. My fear is that you would buy it and need to fill it to fuel the existing truck.

For the bakelite - fibreglass the back of it and (wear a mask as dust is poisonous) grind the crack open & glass the crack up. Then paint as Ian says.

Hi, are you taking her to Goodwood this year? A friend and I might be taking his Yellow Green Goddess along, the Northern Ireland variety.. I think a Goddess 'meet up' is in order at the grounds. Tim Hi Tim, Do you mean the Revival? She'll be at the Festival of Speed and I will be hoping to swing an invite as a static display at the Revival (for which I hope the be fitting a viewing deck on the roof). This yellow Goddess doesn't have a Cummins 6BT powerplant by any chance? Cheers, Ian

Marinanut I'd love to see a photo please and thanks for the offer. Cheers, Ian I'll get a photo Saturday when I'm battering the 37 about... Sorry, clean forgot Saturday; mind you, it was a bit manic up there with three kettles and swarms of steam nuts wandering aimlessly about..... I have asked a mate to see if he can find them in our stores vehicle and get two out. Should find out tomorrow. ...Aaand tomorrow is here, and so are the catches! curse word photo, but they are 22mmx31mm base, 40mm arm, 360 rotation and 20mm deep chromed brass. Any use?

Hi, just joined the forum, so hello all RR regulars. This looks like a great place for old vehicle nuts like me. I spotted FrankenHealey's franklyreally amazing transporter project and have devoured the whole 55 pages over the last two days - major respect for this, especially your perseverance F'n'H. Want to add my tuppenceworth to encourage you mate. I had a Commer Q4 of similar age and drove it around Glasgow for years. It was an ex AFS hose-carrier. Talk about brake fade, I've been there freewheeling down the far side of the 'rest and be thankful' when the governor was stopping me get enough revs to get it into gear.... The quarterlights on the Commer had a catch similar to the early beetle and campervans with a pushbutton to unlock it; www.ebay.co.uk/itm/113837639A-Quarter-Light-Catch-Split-Screen-1954-to-1967-Right-Beetle-1952-t-/281315569217?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item417fb6ee41These have a channel to hook over the glass which could be altered if necessary to fit the GG screen frame. If you used two of these per window, I reckon with your ally window sill back on, you could cut a gently tapering slot through it into the ash frame and get a good pull on the frame as you pushed the lever down. If the wood's too soft make up a wee striker plate in an L-shape to sit in the slot with the flange screwed to the sill. Really looking forward to your next post, so no excuse - even if you are knackered, post some pics for the newbie!!

During the week got some bits and bobs done. Used the 'top notch' 4x4 portable 12V compressor to pump up the tyres Luckily I managed to get one topped up before the end of the 40 minute maximum duty cycle Brush painted the wheel hubs. Before After In preparation for the All-Dorset 34 kilo class Battery Clean and Jerk I cleaned out the battery compartment. It will need painting later but I needed to see if it would fit. Yep it does Then cleaned out the other under seat locker Mid week I sprinted round the estate tracking down this gorgeous Beddy J-type More bits arrived this week. New tie-downs in matching red New plugs because the we think the original 58 year old Champions are still in place, buzzers for indicators and the reversing light and four aluminium drawer handles So with all the intelligent and knowledgeable people on this forum your starter for 10 is : What is this (and the three others) for?
