RR Meadowhall Meet Pictures - Oct 01 page9

Post meet picture time! I forgot the piece that connects my camera to my tripod so I couldn't use the long exposure night setting and instead had to try and take pictures with the regular setting and my chronic camera shake. For that reason, there's not many pics this time around.

Scimitar and garage find Skoda.




If I remember rightly, this Skoda had been laid up in a garage for 25+ years of it's life before the current owner pressed it in service again. Nice early model with the quad lights at the front and the tombstones at the back.




Ford Fiestas. Not as many as usual this time.




I can't remember if this was a Honda or a Mazda or something else entirely, perhaps someone can enlighten me?


A couple of tasty Opel Mantas and Brum the Fiesta.


If only I'd been able to get the setting I wanted on my camera, this picture would've been so much better!

Ford Escort Gartrac replica real deal. I'm told that this was for sale with a 5 figure price tag.




Ford Fiesta with a sneaky 1.6 engine. Not quite as unassuming as it looked.


Finally got some decent pics of this Escort. Chatted with the owner for a bit, it has some interesting stories attached to it. A true labour of love, the car is dedicated to his late wife. Of other special note is the light up Ford badge, a rare (in the UK at least, and by the sounds of things quite difficult to find now) original optional extra for American Fords.








This Capri would look better in better light I'm sure, the sodium lamps were not flattering to what is a very smart car.


Last of all, my little Polo. He's got his bonnet mascot fitted now.




Many of the pictures I took were just blurry messes and the meet was of lower attendance than usual. However, the undesirable element were not there in particular force, they seemed to peel off fairly early in the meet.

A big hello to all the people I chatted to last night too, curious that pretty much everyone I spoke to lives within a few minutes of where I now live.

That gartrac escort G6 is the genuine item not a rep !!! One of the 6 or 7 genuine G6 gartrac escorts left. It hasnt got its 2.8 v6 in it any more, its YB turbo powerd.

orion: I was led to believe the orange Gartrac was a rep (but that the blue one is an original), and have been told that a couple of times about the orange one. I don't actually know the difference between the real thing and replicas, so I just have to go on what I'm told... no offence intended to the owner/builder of course!

pugman: None of my Golf pics came out as more thant fuzzy blobs, and there were a LOT of Golfs there. I'm not sure, but I think I've photographed yours before. If you can remind me which one it was I'll have a dig through the folders for you.

regarding the "replica" i would like to clarify that this is a genuine gartrac g6 escort, although it is running a different engine and gearbox to the standard build. It is stamped on innerwing and log book has gartrac chassis number. These are hard to find and see now and coming to the meadowhall meet and seeing 2 is great especially when the other is a convertable. There are a few out there that claim to be genuine gartrac's but are not easy way to clarify is the completely different inner wings from bulkhaed forward and alloy arches not fibreglass plus lots more items not seen . thanks again for comments and yes it is for sale

Was a nice quiet meet overall, much improved, though with lower numbers.

But... I don't remember seeing any standard purple Golfs at an RR meet, they're all modified.

It kinda blends in, I've been at the last 3. The green E30 touring is my mates car, I was parked next to that.

I just noticed that too... I'll amend it. I saw your Golf but I don't think I got any good pics of it I'll double check when I sort out the broken links.

Double checked and sadly, I have no pictures of your Golf. Have to wonder how you didn't get stuck in a hole with it on Sheffield's rural tracks that they like to pretend are roads. Looks nice.

Was yours the Golf with the arches actually against the tyres? Awesome
