Keeps going wrong I did them well first time round, masked off the light after to paint the trim black and the tint reacted and 'melted' so I thinnersed it off sanded it back and cleaned them again. Bought some more tint spray waited a week for delivery as Halfords only sell 'curse word blue tint spray' just done it again, but warmed the can up nice and hot and it has reacted terribly! Thought Id come in and vent on here instead of snapping my rare mkl2 lights in half. Anyone have any advice on my next move or do I need to strip it again and buy yet more spray? That'd be nearly 30 quids worth of spray

Never had a problem using tint spray on lights, and i've done a few ! Last lot of spray i bought was off of e-gay, 'turbo tint' i think it was called. The trick i found was many very thin, almost dust coat, layers.

The tint spray I've been using (red) is by Savage and has done about eight or nine sets of lights from one can. As said, lots of thin layers to build up the level of tint you want and it comes out a nice glossy, almost factory shine.
We even drunkenly creatively sprayed a set of golf trim rings with the same can as well as all the lights, it really does go a long way and pink tint trim rings look awesome too!!

How do you recommend I prep the lights as its gone wrong twice, so I'm gonna stump up for more and have one more go at it. Just bought savage red on the E of gay. Thats officially over £30 worth of tint spray for two lights!!!!
Cant get it wrong this time, its taking the peepee.
Ill take them to work tomorrow and use some strong thinners on them to get all the old reacted paint and curse word off. What do you recommend I do after that? thanks guys

+1 vote for Savage. Done a number of sets of lights with this. Needs a nice polish afterwards to bring out the gloss I find tho.

Cool, how dyou think I should prep them? I totally cant afford to do it 4 times! I'm gonna use strong thinners on them tomorrow to strip everything off to start again. Again! What should I do after that? Reckon I have about 2 days from now till the savage tint spray arrives off ebay

Berny, I think you mean Fly Eyes Kit: www.flyeyeskit.co.uk/I have been running it on the headlamps/sidelights and indicators of my Delica for a while now and absolutely love the stuff! Amazingly easy to put on (as seen at Area 52 this weekend when I did my QVC demo on the Rascal) and very effective....without any noticable loss of light. I had to remove it all at the weekend because the paint used in the film should wouldn't wash out from between the tiny holes making the whole light look pasty and faded! I ordered a new set today so will be re-doing my lights when it arrives (for £13 it's no great loss for having my car in a film!) The flim is actually makes the lights look a lot darker in the flesh...more like this (but without the dirt): As for the red rear tint spray, I usualy just t-cut the surface of the lens really well first, then clean with a soft cloth, mask up and spray. Always worked for me. If you use a whole can on one set of lights you're doing something very wrong!
