Not a ford expert but are you sure this is a Weber? It looks like a single point injection throttle body to me

lol you did'nt answer the question matey, when was the last service, It is probably in need of plugs and Leads, usually the best thing to try first anyhow, also give it an oil change just to be sure

Definately a weber.......
It looks like the carb could do with a good clean - maybe spend some time cleaning the carb / replacing the gaskets between the carb and inlet. Be worth fitting new filter, plugs, leads etc.....
What engine type is it....CVH....?

Sluggish ...hmmm ... Because some 'chipmunk' has 'fiddled' with carb to get it through the emission test. Happened with a friends

This may sound a bit silly but when messing with friends '95 Fiesta I asked a knowledgable mechanic friend about this set up and he replied "Think of it as a sort of cross between a Carb and a single point injection".

hehe, know what ya gettin at now, sorry, bein slow. She will have the once over, plugs and oil and all. She always been sluggish though, heavy car and just a 1.3. So i was in mind of summit a bit more drastic, bar strappin a turbo on. Close-up of the carb...

You could always strip the interior out to make the car lighter.....

ok, so its a single point injection carb (1.3 HCS CFI), from what i can work out, a carb with a brain.

What's the metal pipe work going across the exhaust manifold and in to the head for - something to do with the autochoke?

So i was in mind of summit a bit more drastic, bar strappin a turbo on. Selling it to an 18-year old girl as an 'ideal first car', then sploffing the cash on a Volvo 760 Turbo. That's the way forward IMO. Drastic but necessary

And only drive doen hills. Sorry. I see that they've fitted some sort of exhaust gas recirculation system to the poot old ohv/kent/valencia/whatever aswell. That's just not fair, how's the poor little thing supposed to cope with that lot? I used to have a 1.3 Ghia in met blue, only mine was a mk1. It rocked!

Yer, this is what threw me with friend Fezza, the fact it had a 'carb' to me but also had catalytic converter/lamba sensor/emission system. Only other car I could think of with that set up was another friends 1994 Lada Riva (21,000 mile from new, it was his dads ...and he sold it ).

SECONDED! How do they expect an engine of the 1960's (1959?) to meet modern emission regs, WHAT WERE FORD PLAYING AT! Having said that in original form I think there a simple yet great little unit (and just ignore timing chain rattle ;D)
