Bloody hell Adam, your Dad said you weren't feeling too well, but I didn't realise you were that ill!! Glad you got it sorted. It was great to meet your Dad again and it turned out to be quite a mini gathering - not sure if he told you but as well as Si, there was also Tim, Chris, Kev and Jed there! Some shots of Si, the metal melting master, at work on the sump: Hope you're feeling better soon and I look forward to seeing you at some point in the not too distant future.

My dad said you were there but i didnt realise EVERYONE was there! It's a shame i couldn't make it myself Yehhh at the time i had tonsilitis with mild stomach pains, which turned out to be tonsilitis with acute appendicitis and peritonitis requiring me to be rushed to hospital monday night and operation which then didnt go to plan. All in all not a great week Just getting back on my feet so I should be under a car soon enough.... Excellent photos! My dad said you'd been snapping away

The impression I got was that most people would have struggled to do it full stop, you can see the curse word that came out of the metal on the welds, which makes it even more amazing that Si managed it in an hour!

glad your happy with it adam.. and yes it was a mare.. esp pickup pretty sure it is a magneasium alloy so I just concentrated on trying to get it stuck together and roughly (very) filling the voids the best I could but as I told your dad, seal it up with a coating of chem metal.. not nice or ideal but as long as it works and is safe thats all that matters..(luckly its inside the sump so most wont see its hideousness!!) funny but some sections of the sump welded really well abeit the dirt in the casting.. other sectins were nasty! but we got there in the end.. also sorry to hear about the hospital stay nasty.. hope you are recovering well si

Son, I realize your English "dad" looks after your day-to-day needs. But, if I am expected to continue writing checks for your upbringing, I would appreciate being notified and getting my permissions prior to any surgerys or procedures. You have my cellie#, please use it in the future. This is the last warning before you're removed as heir to my vast fortune.

rods used were a varitable feast of pure ally. 5%sillicone. and cast alloy rods..
twas a pain.. but we got there in the end.. tbh even though I hate the bodging nastyness a spool on gun can be handy with dirty castings.. si
ps big LOL @ blitz..

yeah there is a few about low melt rods.. prob is that it needs a decent preheating first or you end up with not enough power to keep an arc and yet still way too much power for the low melt rods.. the cast ones i used are for mag/alloy castings but too low melt point..
if there was more time for cleaning and preheating and playing about with verious rods it would be nice but i did what i could within the contraints presented si

All together as of 8pm Had a couple of issues; one of the baffles didnt quite clear the pickup and the sump having warped ever so slightly leading to a small crack opening on one of the mounting lugs, but it was nothing a dremel and chemical metal couldn't solve. Trial fit: For comparison: Baffle plate and oil pickup in: All together: Happy bunny, as long as it all works!
