Right well the time has finally come to sell on my Sierra Sapphire. I’ve had great fun messing about with it over the last year and the car has been through several different colourations in that time.
It is a 1.8 Lx so comes with the CVH petrol engine. The mileage currently 125,000 so about average for a car of this age. (1990 on a H reg) In the year I’ve owned it the car has taken me from Milton Keynes to Aberystwyth (West Wales) many times and down to Devon too without ever missing a beat or letting me down. I’m its 4th owner.
Obviously being a 1.8 it won’t light the world on fire in performance terms but it is rear wheel drive and on a wet/damp roundabout it is possible to get the back to step out.
As you can see it’s satin black. I can’t stress enough the rough ‘ratty’ finish of this paint scheme. I keyed down the previous desert sand paintwork to apply it and had to use high grade sand paper to achieve this. It was then sprayed with rattle cans some of which will come with the car if you want. It certainly won’t win you any concourse prizes but if you can live with that then you’ll be fine.

It is fitted with Spax up rated springs and dampers which I fitted last September. They only lower the car 40mm but the improvement in handling with them fitted is very noticeable indeed. Because they’re up rated and quite new they’d also be ideal for chopping if you fancied it. Comes with Cosworth bumper and grill fitted and a Cosworth rear one too which I still haven’t got round to fitting. Will be sold on the Sierra steels shown. I’ve got a black chalkboard bonnet the buyer can have too if the want so no need for a rusty one if that doesn’t float your boat.
Interior is fine too, a little worn here and there but perfectly comfortable. Plus you get a sticker saying ‘Cunning Stunts’ too, what more could you ask for?
Bad points? Well it could do with some new bushes at the front as there is some play when you move the front tyres by hand. Tracking could do with some re-aligning too. Structurally it is fine, not the common rot-box Sierra you so often come across. Sills, boot floor and strut tops are fine too.The rear arches have filler because they were rolled to fit the weller wheels. The finish is again best described as ratty but there isn’t any rust and the ’rough and ready’ effect goes with the look of the car. (I think so anyway!)
It only has MOT till the 29th of this month hence the need for a quick sale but I can’t see it needing much for a new one. It does have 6 months tax which will come with the car if I get near the asking price.
All in a car that has served me well. It has lots of life in it yet too. Asking price is £250 but I will negotiate. Car is located in Milton Keynes, North Bucks.
