hello. just trying to get my head around the bike carb conversion...need to try and find out what a few of the pipes/etc are on these.... which one of these is the throttle? top one goes horizontal, the lower one is the one that opens the butterflies which makes me think thats where the throttle cable goes to, if so, what is the other one? are all of the pipes running along the top breathers? and the 2 in the foreground are fuel? t-piece then to the fuel regulator - ok? any help appreciated. many thanks.

first = choke second = throttle third = can't see properly, might be fuel or coolant (to stop carb freeze)

They are Suzuki GSXR1100 BST40s!? I've been answering exactly the same questions myself over the past few weeks The slidy bit is the choke which operates the flatslides in the carb using vacuum. The second bit is the throttle which operates the butterflies. The two takeoffs between the pairs are fuel overflows... get those connected up to a return if you possibly can. The middle is a breather which needs to be taken to the airbox / filter ideally

The middle is a breather which needs to be taken to the airbox / filter ideally cool, don't have a fuel return....can I connect them together? the 2 pipes in the front of the pic - fuel in? many thanks!

The fuel overflows need to be vented to a catch tank somewhere if there's no return. You'll need a catch tank for the engine breathers anyway so i'd just link them into that. These carbs are very sensitive to fuel pressure, any more than 2-3psi and fuel will pour out of the overflows and/or air jets, so make sure you get a fuel pressure regulator in there. Also you'll need to get a second throttle spring in there to get any sort of throttle feel with your foot. I'll update my locost build thread tonight with pictures of what i did (on my phone atm).

Just uploaded some photos but don't think I'm gonna get time to update the Locost thread tonight, so here's a photo of how I did the secondary throttle spring: Filed a little V into the part on the throttle mechanism for the spring to sit in and a little tab off the the bottom of the float chamber For the cable I used the bike one and modified the end with a solderless nipple, attached to the pedal like so: Not sure what your pedal arrangement will be like though.
