This event was the tasty filling in a rather amazing automotive sandwich over bank holiday weekend. The slices of bread being the awesome Dawn Drive very early on Sunday morning and the incredible Crystal Palace hillclimb/sprint on the Monday. Details of those have already been covered elsewhere and my photos of those events will be added in due course. I decided to post up my photos & details of this event first because it's the one event that doesn't seem to have been covered by anyone yet. I was kindly invited to the event by Seth because I was staying with him for the weekend along with Kev from Wales. Who better to spend a Sunday with browsing through the autojumble and drooling over stunning cars? We left Seths at around 10am (after being on the road for the Dawn Drive since 3am!) and cruised over to Enfield in the stunning Minx Seth had a pass to park on the Borgward stand, even though his Isabella isn't quite roadworthy yet! Kev wasted no time in aquanting himself with the other Borgwards We then headed off to browse the autojumble....but passing this ex-Japanese taxi we all shouted 'Hirst'....so I took these for him knowing it would please him At the autojumble we very quickly spotted this rather wide racing wheel. Kev wanted it, I wanted it.....trouble was brewing and a fight was imminent!! Proof that stretch isn't just used for show! Awesome tat-hauler, great colour combo too. I've got a bit of a thing for G-wagens right now Just imagine this in your rear view Pretty tidy, pretty straight Mk2 Transit hauler. I know someone who'd appreciate this... ;D Signwriting & visor hinted at it being a TT support/parts vehicle....either way, it was rather nice amongst most of the modern tat-haulers

After a long browse, we headed back to the display area where Kev dropped off his first load of purchases. On our way back to Seth's car I had to stop and get some shots of this....known to most of you, it's still looking pretty special. A quick rest then back out for a tour of the lower part of the show area. This 'politan was rather tasty....and so were the two Airstream's in the background (£11k bought the one at the back) I couldn't get back far enough to get this fully in the frame (Airstream right behind me!) so had to take the shot diagonally then straighten/crop afterwards! Just lovely. (both of them!) Don't know why, but I was thinking of BrianDamaged when I took this shot "Mummy-they're lovely" .......if only they had some for sale Best 'car' trailer ever? I think you'd be hard pressed to better it "Driver worried" Well, it certainly meant business Nice choice of wheels (although I think the fronts could have been a little bit bigger diameter) Allard was stunning A thing of beauty (and I didn't even get a full shot of it!!!) Sticker read: "Engine RPM: Normal Maximum 2350, Absolute Maximum 2850, At present recommended NOT ABOVE 1800 RPM " Awesome stuff. Will it be there this year?? Serious engineering Style. Sheer style

Inside the marquee - the Jools Holland/Leepu Jet1 replica This Austin Healey came along with all the signs of serious use. Excellent. "JamesP to the marquee - your services are needed" Back out on the autojumble, Kev finds something for Alistair "£3,955.....does that come with an IVA certificate?" Certainly not to my taste anyway. Nor Kev's, nor Seth's!! Amongst the autojumble was probably one of my fave cars of the day. No sign that it was for sale. This was a good thing! Another successful tat-raid by Kev. The 'Bank of Bruce' was on hand to help fund the purchase of that wheel/tyre...along with some wheelchair wheels for making a soapbox racer. Expect to see something pretty mad done with the wheel (hopefully for the Gathering). I was way too hot and way too tired to fight Kev over the wheel in the end. He's too nice a guy to punch anyway ;D Kev tries to convince Seth that the Minx needs to go Boso! We sit down to rest out very tired feet for a moment. It's 4pm and we've been on the go for over 11 hours already! There's a LOTTA love for this car. Totally understandable. Totally deserved.

Next to the Borgward stand: the reg plate says it all! Running out of room to put stuff! Trying to replicate the US craze for fitting MAHOOOSIVE wheels to your ride and jacking the car right up in the air: FAIL! Ladies & Gentlemen I give you the UK version nicknamed the Conk! (reverse scallops FTL) "If you have a problem, if no one else can help, and if you can find them, maybe you can hire... The Ghey-Team"I had a lot of love for this Amazing is the only way I could describe this car! Attention to detail, quality, attitude....it had it all! You'd think something like this would be trailered to shows. Nope.....I passed it on the M4 around Reading on my way home on Monday! My fave colour on any car at the show. Some of the smaller details were a bit 'meh' but overall I really liked the treatment on this Granny Wheels, colour, stance and even the headlamp covers...all spot-on (I won't mention the air-box though!!)

Hell yeah!! This Mini was stickered up as Rat-look....but was far from it! Instead, it was a rather tidy Nato green body with black bonnet & arches, finished off with bright orange wheels & drilled bumpers. Sounds awful but it really worked! I'd roll it. H vans always make me smile (in fact it was another H van that helped me choose what to buy for lunch. Amongst all the usual hot-dog & burger stalls, the chicken Kebab Citroen catering van got my vote. Food was tasty too....) Serious patina. But is that sky I can see through the bottom of the roof? That explains it. Ooops! Let that be a lesson to some of you guys..... California import Mustang with patina sounds pretty tempting, but once the beer goggles wear off you'll soon be regretting it This, however, was rather delicious! ....so was this I'll take this one please. Just needs to be sat on the floor Oooh - slots. This is for Alistair OK guys, you were right....this does float my boat.

"For Sale-ish" We all agreed it would be an awesome purchase. Retro camper & tat-hauler in one tidy, well finished package. V12 rod running straight pipes. I was hoping he'd fire it up. He didn't Two rather lovely cars in one shot 356 is one of my all time faves Pop was loud even before it started up. NICE! Never fails to make a good shot. Great design will always be in vogue Final shot. If Hirst lived in France - "Le Hirst Cabs!" An awesome day, amazing company (thanks again Kev & Seth) and I will certainly be putting this in my diary for next year. As Kev & Seth said on the way back, maybe we should arrange a stand for RR next year??

Man, I'm ruing my phone battery running out! Went Saturday when the weather went all mini-Katrina on me. Least I got some decent tools. I go every year to this and Bromley Pageant, always good days out. There's also a one day show near Uxbridge that was a laugh last year. www.bromleypageant.co.uk/www.uxbridge-autoshow.com/

Stunning photos MM!
A stand would be cool but I think needs arranging quite a long way in advance.

I go every year to this and Bromley Pageant, always good days out. There's also a one day show near Uxbridge that was a laugh last year. Thanks Amazo, Unfortunatley this was my one & only weekend of car shows before the Gathering this year, so won't be able to attend the Bromley or Uxbridge shows until next year. Even then, they are a bit of a trek from Bristol just for the day. Luckily I was in London for this weekend so managed to tie this in with the Dawn Drive and the Crystal Palace hillclimb. I know what you mean about batteries dying - I forgot to charge up my camera battery before the Dwan Drive and only had 20% battery when we headed out!! I then spent the last third of the drive with the battery light flashing while I selectively chose the shots....rather than just shooting whatever I fancied.

Great photos Bruce. You specifically make me want to get a Digi SLR and start being an annoying photographer wannabe ;D. This photo in particular does it for me: You must be very dedicated to this 'Project X' and whatever else you are brewing for the gathering. Really wish it was this year I was going!
