I think the use of the speculative "would have" invalidates godwins law and the time problem and makes the statement hypothetical instead. Had things gone differently in the 1940's then I suggest that the merc pictured is exactly the sort of thing that would interest the ageing Fuhrer for running eva and the grandkids to and from Bertesgarten. Back on topic... it needs to be shiny. Or diesel. But not both

To get a standard A40 this low, you'd have to dig a hole to put it in

But not both Actually it cover the theoretical; any comparison to Mr. H, The N's and associated used out of context count. And I think the car needs a phat Merc V8 and modern Merc running gear. Think 50's AMG Hammer shooting brake

Nar, the speculative aspect brings it into context, obviously. And no. It needs a v12. look how long the bonnet is, you'd lose a v8 in there

If it were an old 50's Lancia would you think Mussolini? It's unfair on the car. And you could be right. An ex-Pagani Zonda 7.3 V12 tucked under the hood would be sweeeeet. Paired with a couple of turbos, DTM-style suspension and 20" cross-spoke split rims, similar to this:

flathead V8 and wooden panels, with a couple of sunloungers strapped on the roof instead of surfboards, shiny paint required.

Volvo back as my main squeeze, more boost and some interior goodies on the way.

Mussolini had a fiat Herr H had a thing for big black mercs. It isn't a reflection on the car any more than a beige VW is "Ted Bundy style"

What is Godwin's Law? I vote for shiny black, on the deck with Caddy wires and wide whites.

The station version much be pretty rare. It is a coachbuild?
Portugese numberplate, it must have an interesting story to tell us.
Here is a vote to restore it to orginal spec (leaving some patina is good)

The station version much be pretty rare. It is a coachbuild? Portugese numberplate, it must have an interesting story to tell us. Here is a vote to restore it to orginal spec (leaving some patina is good) According to the website it's a coachbuilt hearse, still with original interior layout, two narrow rear seats either side of the coffin in the centre. If it was my project it would be shiny black with all the chrome redone. I would have it lowered on steel wheels with factory hubcaps and purring with a suitable V8, either Mercedes or LS2.
