hi my name's mike and I own a 1975 vauxhall firenza hpf or droopsnoot I bought 2 off e-bay 6-7 years ago, a reshelled 6 headlight car,in silver and this,ex sprint car, which turned out to be a bit of a rust bucket and prob would have ended up in the bin if not for the encouragement of my mate ron. Most of the rust work is now done. it has also had some bling alloys, a 2ltr let from a calibar turbo, omega 5 speed and ford lsd rear axle and 5 link watts set up It has been sat in the garage for a bit now while we derust my bud jasons magnum and v8 that then we will finish mine off
looks like ill have to add pic's later as I need to find out how to upload them opps

Welcome to the forum Mike!
Try signing up for Photobucket (it's free) and upload your photos on there. When that's done you'll get an IMG code under the photo which you can cut and paste into your replies on here, and your photos will appear! Looking forward to seeing the car, it sounds like a cool project.

thanks leigh matty c2let, you gota love, but if was back at square 1 i wouldn't use this engine id go for the nissan 200, 18 or 2ltr turbo think there is someone on here with that convert already, it just makes more sense it was hard work to make the c2let fit or a v8 ls1 chevrolet or i would love to take the engine out of my c43 AMG mercedes as thats one hell of an engine sadly no manual gearbox and can-bus control engine and box so dam hard to seperate

Was the c20let that awkward to get in? Thing that outs me off them is the price of initial outlay and the other bits - lots of scene tax on them. Wonder what the Nissan engines you suggested would be like money/hassle wise? Some are already RWD which would save some hassle I suppose

the c20let was yes a complete git, it;s a tall engine so has to sit close to the bulkhead but has that stupid little distributor on the back of the head which you could do away with but would need a manta 1.8 conversion or after market ecu...the sump from an omege/carlton and need cutting, hybrid clutch and of course the cooling system is back to front but might have sussed that with a frontra rad and hoses as omega dosn't fit and cutting the bulkhead and x member
the idear had been to stick it in the hole to see if i wanted a 2ltr turbo as i have a mate who is squeezing 350-400 bhp out of a converted x20xev with a turbo...and that dosn't have a distributor but would cost £2k-3k to get going think that would have made more sense now..or the nissan which is already a rwd turbo and can be made to push 250-300bhp on standed internals ready made gear box and the 1.8 are 10 a penny in scrapies now

sadly that paint has water spots all over it so has to be redone and as i got stick from the purists about the engine (and i like the colour) it's going back to silver not sure if it will be that renault one with a pearl or the really freaky alfa one yet
hope it's ok to say there are a couple of firenza pages on facebook now

I'm sure they hate the thought of the engine too, I know they snubbed my engine too. Thing about the black is it looks different in a good way. There are plenty of perfectly restored original spec examples out there, it's refreshing to see something different
