Well I passed yesterday with 3 minors the real learning starts here as everyone says I'm also wondering what I should do with the 205? just for a plain rep or rep+1 Some of my own ideas are chrome rallye steels? or maybe getting the lip's painted in the rallye colors? anyone got anything more creative? I mean 205's seem to be quite traditional when it comes to modifying just like escort mk1's I suppose Also anyone got any good insurance companys I can get onto? i've been searching all day best I can find without stupid excess is the aa with £1500... but thats without going monthly!! which I can't do

would it really matter if your excess is stupid ? surely your not going to claim on your insurance if you smash it ?

As a 205-loving Insurance Broker the thread title alone ticks all my boxes! Congrats on passing. Get Pass Plus - that should help get the premium/excess down a bit. Bell Direct are good I hear.

Bell are part of admiral so likely to be similar. Have you put you mum/dad on it? That tends to bring it down a bit too.

Well I passed yesterday with 3 minors Congratulations! the real learning starts here as everyone says Entirely correct. I'm also wondering what I should do with the 205? just for a plain rep or rep+1 If you mean a GTi replica, then NOOOOO! Try here for inspiration. Lots of good readers rides there as well.

My 205 was one of the few cars that I really miss. It was also one of the cars I slammed the lowest that still gave a bearable ride on normal roads. a 309 rear beam would have given a slightly wider rear track width and filled the arches a bit more if styling is your thing.

I love yours Dave! Just don't see em in blue like that. Always amazed by insurance prices in the UK. In France there's a learning policy where-by you drive 3000km with your parents before taking your test and the insurer can't charge anything for you in that period. And my parents insurer was good because, they didn't charge any more even when I passed. But that was in their cars. Also when you pass, you're not counted as a new driver. Pretty good system. 6 years on, I only pay about £230, and that's for anyone in my family to drive it. About inspiration... I saw this And thought YES!!! for my AX, because I have a GT front bumper to fit, square yellow foglights to go on, and scratched paint down the sides. Could be good for a 205 too. I agree about not doing a fake GTI. But same for AXs, I'm putting a GT bumper on but not the rest of the kit. You could do that.

I don't know if Brentacre will insure 17 year olds but I really cant reccomend them enough - no increase for cosmetic mods, and they set a bhp limit - so no charges as long as you stay under the nominated limit. Sweet - 01792 650933

I briefly had custody of a 205 diesel, I reckon a really good way to brighten a 205 up would be to obtain a set of the 1.6 GTi pepperpot wheels: They seem to go for buttons and they're a really nice design I think! I'd stay away from making a full GTi replica though, I just think it'd be nice to see an ultra-basic one with no rubbing strips, those wheels and the suspension tinkered a bit (standard models sit higher than sports ones so they look jacked-up if you change the wheels). Maybe then chuck in a few other French mods, some yellow foglights, a pack of Gitanes on the dashboard and just shrug a lot when asked anything.
