They sure have. They were so disposable 10 years ago that then this was exactly what happened. If you think about it there are still probably more of them knocking about than the equivalent year Fiesta, Polo, Micra or 205
It failed but not on anything that was touched. The testers said that the clutch is "on the way out" which is annoying as we had never noticed any issue with it but that's how it is here. If it's marked a technical fail then you suck it up.
So we need to fit a new clutch. Retest is on St. Patrick's Day which is surely a good omen for me!
So the red Starlet passed the test and is now road legal. However, with the ongoing shuffle of the fleet a different direction has emerged and the red starlet must go.
Instead of leasing a car for my wife to replace the currently leased X1 (lease is up this month and I will buy it out and resell) we have decided to purchase outright an F10 528iX Estate. The extra cash for this move is 3k ish which is pretty much the market value of the Starlet here.
So I'm now at the peak of the major fleet reshuffle with 4 cars for sale simultaneously (Starlet, Legacy, Panda and X1) and the 528 joining the party next Monday.
Went to pick up the 528 this morning and deposit the X1.
Although I was picking up a "new" car which is always a nice feeling, it was tinged with sadness as the Starlet was there and it looks good. Unfortunately my ultimate vision for it will not be realized as it has to go but here it stands, shiny and road legal.
