I'm sick of wheel bolts they do my head in, especially if your not using spigot rings or you want to use spacers. So I've seen these bolt to stud conversion kits from various places and wondered if anyone has used them and what feedback you can give? I'm just worried about them being secure enough, bearing in mind I've got a welded diff? This kinda thing........

mate of mine just did this on a track m3 - no problems. although imense cleaning of threads was a must.
i am planning something similar on my 190e but prefer the pressed in from behind (oo-er!) approach.......would prob have to drill through the current hole rendering the thread useless and making the mod permanat but i'm cool with that.

I've heard a few horror storys about cheap ones with stripped threads, broken studs or the studs coming lose from the hub. If you can get ones where the threads are rolled rather than cut then they're better, but I'd rather take the hub off, drill through the threads with a 12.8mm drill then press in some proper studs tbh. I've also seen it done where normal 12.9 grade allen head bolts are screwed in from the reverse side with thread lock and torqued up massively, still have to take the hubs off but at least it's reversible.

Ran them on my Escort for over a year with no problems at all (still on there, but not driving the car). Good investment imo, got mine from Croydon Race & Rally, cheaper than anywhere else I found and great quality.

run them on my g40 without issue. when i fitted them, i did use some locktite on them, havnt had any come loose. had to remove one after i cross-threaded a nut and it was a total pain to remove the stud, so my advice is to choose your thread-lock wisely, think the stuff i used was a bit hardcore!
