Its a cheap way into your own house!... slowly ticking along- its getting warmer feeling inside with the wood going up. Outside almost all done too- just some more windows to fit - still 3 windows to make. I was fitting the brand new locking door handle we had just bought that morning. I hopped down the steps and one foot went too close to edge tipping step and I went down hard landing my dodgy knee onto a paving slab. New door knob smacked something too. bu--er!.. Heres some shots- insulation going in on popouts- will be thicker on main walls and ceiling. and the door frame- lovely colours... so nice I took just a photo of the wood. very warm colours- wod is a mixture of Rimu, Miro and macrocarpa.

It's great that all the different wood used prevents everything from looking brand new and factory made, it looks like it has some age and craftsmanship involved. Same goes for the eclectic windows, they look like they've been made to fit the holes in the panels rather than the panels being made to fit them. Very exciting progress, as always.

cheers for that.:-) it would be people like you from the crazy funky seat covering world who would like the style!
Right now I'm as happy as a dog who's found he's got another bum. I did all the wiring yesterday. Its now ready to put up all the remaining insulation. I have put up some nice decent wire for the speakers too. Two for the work shop and 2 in the bedroom. Sounds are very important to me. We are on the look out for some decent speakers now. Today we will try to get up loads of panelling.

It's not just the seats that are going to be crazyfunky, I'm planning to get the dashboard pinstriped Sound is massively important, that's why I'm a bit irked that the hard drive with my music collection on isn't talking to my computer... hopefully turning it off and on again will help.

Best use for an old gas canister I've seen yet. The whole thing is looking really nice, I envy your adventures that are bound to happen soon.

Great work mate. I'm jealous. So much so I'm stealing some of your ideas for a burner I'm making.
I always like seeing updates on this.

we were going to pipe the water in but as we will have a huge tank and always be near water instead we can just put big buckets under the truck- the pipe work into truck was going to be a tricky route with lots of bends and I wouldn't want it to block. I would love to make my own wind genrator. As we will be mainly all 12volt then maybe have a play around with a small car alternator sometime. I cant wait till truck is livable so I can sit on my couch designing with coffee in my blood then work over to my workbench and build! Tried this a few years back and discovered that a wind turbine doesn't spin particularly fast, certainly not fast enough to spin up an alternator to an adequate speed. Had some thoughts but never got round to doing much- pondered pulling the reduction gearbox off the front of a hand drill and run the blades off the chuck and turn a generator with the motor drive- good for the torque and useful as you can take it to bits with a chuck key. Only disadvantage would be that it would be noisy. Might find that you could run a small moped engine and charge a battery with the generator in the flywheel. Would putz over using a minimal amount of fuel, could use camping gas or similar. --Phil

we have a tiny honda genny(650 watts) - they can be run on gas with an adaptor. But even using petrol we were only using 10 litres of petrol a week in middle of winter- that would allow telly watching, using my workshop lights and top up batteries all at the same time. bloody efficient little genny. We don't buy chinese copies- my brother did and they don't last long and are noisy.
