Never that upset about selling a car because I'm always excited for the next one but what Gavin says about chucking money at it just before you flog it - that's me everytime ;D All the curse word I put up with through ownership I end up sorting out before I advertise.

I was pretty upset when I sold my first Land Rover, Series 3 V6 that I had built to something I really wanted over the years. That funded a Range Rover that I sold without a second thought and funded my second Range Rover, that ended up on its roof in the middle of a country lane, I was gutted about that as it had taken the best part of 6 months of complete tear down and rebuild and was well on the way to being my perfect Range Rover. That was replaced with a Discovery which I'm not sure I would miss. I think I would probably miss my current S3 too.

I know the feeling, although i've never really had to go through it, I'm about to in the next few weeks. Serious fleet reduction to enable a house pruchase is going to mean selling my first car. My fiesta a spent loads on and have had over 10 years its not doing anything other than decaying on the drive but its still full of good memories and thousaands of pounds The Ax I'm selling is different as i've only had it a few months so that'll be easy to part with. My Toledo will need to be p/ex against a new daily and that will again be a hard decision, after 36k and 3 years i've been everywhere in it and it fits me like a glove, its been loved to death and driven to unreliability off to be fixed next week then traded in at some point. Heres hoping the next daily is as faithful as that is!

In the last few years I've bought car after car, however for the first time in my life I've actually sold a car. Not one but three in the last month! First to go was my 2 door Range Rover offroader, as I don't have enough time to go pitting in it anymore and I also have a SIIa V8 pickup. I sold it to my next door neighbour and it's sitting out the back of our houses! Next to go was my E28 520i, sold to Dez as I was never going to get round to fixing, especially as I've bought an E32 735i and they were for a similar purpose. Last night I sold my very reliable VW Passat 1.9TD B4 Estate... Had it just under a year and it's been an amazing work horse getting between 45-50mpg. I'm doing less miles these days and I've got itchy feet to get back into my E30 318is, which does 30mpg... Not too sad about any of them to be honest, maybe slightly sad about the passat. I sell them because they have no purpose and they help finance my hobby . I've still got 20 odd cars, so I'm not exactly short of them!
