I have been looking for one of these for years and jumped at the chance to have one again but its just going to sit around and not get used so I'm going to let it go and be enjoyed by someone else. this is a 323 1.4 sp was originally silver and has a 13b rx7 engine fitted with a 48dhla sidedraught carb .these are really popular in australia and new zealand there is plenty of info on this cars set up on the mazda forums . the engine is bridge ported and has been re built recently with new rotor tip and various other gaskets and seals .i drove the car back from ealing in london to stoke on trent and there are no oil or coolant issues 5 bar oil pressure and 80c engine temp . I have put new plugs in and changed the oil and filter. the gearbox was noisy but the chap I bought it from gave me a good spare box and a std diff as the car was running a welded unit . both of these have been fitted and new oil in the box and axle . the half shaft bearings were changed while the shafts were out and the rear brake shoes have been replaced. there are a pair of coilovers for the rear but they have ridiculous springs on so I have fitted slightly lowered rear springs and some new rear shocks. The carb has just been rebuilt with a new needle valve and the proper rubber spacers with spring washers and a new pair of filters on the carb inlet and out of the tank. there is no ignition key but a battery master key main switch and a switch for the fuel pump and fan .the door locks are all solex type and there is a solenoid release for the boot lid. the car runs really well now and without the welded diff is just as I remember them back in my teens. the car was on 215/50 tyres but I have changed them all to 185/60/13 but still have two of the wider tyres if needed. the tune of the engine means that the car idles at just under 2000rpm and can sound a bit lumby but thats just how a bridge port sounds ,and now that the carb is set up right it drives well but can hunt a little on the overrun but you soon adjust your driving style to suit it :)on the plus side the engine will happily rev to 8k with no problems and will sit at 80mph at 3500rpm as it did all the way back from london. structurally the car is very good with only one small welding repair on the drivers side floor but there are various scabs on the car which have been treated but not painted . the drivers door needs some repairs to the lower half but I have a door skin and a couple of spare wings to go with the car. 12months mot and as its a rotary its in the 1300cc tax bracket so £100 tax . I paid £1500 for the car but have spent around £150 in parts getting it sorted ,not counting my labour so thats what I want for the car which I think is a fair price £1650 performance wise it is around 170 hp flywheel and pulls strongly right up to the shift light at 7500rpm. the car can be inspected on one of my ramps at work any time . any questions pm me

It's been great to have one again as I had a few sp,s when I was in my teens and if I didn't have any other cars I would keep it . My other car is a twin bike engined reliant kitten with direct port nitrous system and although it is mentally fast it is not a daily driver and needs to undergo an engine change to make it useable every day ,avoiding the issue by buying another car won't change that sadly. For what it's up for it's a cheap way of going sideways probably half what any escort or chevette with similar power would sell for , I've had a few rotaries now and the non turbo engines cope with abuse much better than the turbo ones

I can't understand it either . I don't think it was badly priced before and for a fairly light rwd car that revs to 8k with no problems and sounds good it's a bargain . The funny thing is if it had a ford badge it would do twice the money yet back in the day when I ran these cars in my teens a 1.4 sp would whup a 1.6 Mk 2 escort all day long !!!

I built this car in 1993 originally as a 12A straight from an RX7 and it flew with that motor in it. I had seen them illegally drag racing in NZ like the owner said and was extremely impressed. When I got to the uk I was looking for a V8 and land Rovers just aren't my cup of beef. Built just as a sleeper(and a bit of a laugh in the beginning) after we blew off a cosworth escort on the A3 one night 3 up I knew I should take this wolf in sheeps clothing a bit more seriously. When I over reved the original 12A and smoked it I happened to work for tw white (mazda dealer)and low and behold 2 brand new 13b housings turned up in the store room one day that had my mazdas name all over them.so out with the old and in with the new. At the same time I resprayed it coral blue MX5 and put the series 5 scoop on to keep her cooler. In the winter the intake manifold would freeze first thing and I would have to stop to warm it up. From then on it would scream. Ahh the good old days
