Lo all, Will probs delete later on A mate of mine is looking for a 70's camper van for around £1000. Was there one of those Flash game/programs where you modify a camper like there was for the beetle and golf? Also any good info websites on them? Cheers guys, Graham

or just pick up a T25, the last one cost me less than that by a VERY long way and is still MOT'd, and the guy knew what it was worth, he just wanted the space. Its a 1990 twin slider Devon conversion, and is missing the grille, bumper at the front (although a standard one is supplied) and interior minus dash and front seats. (boved?, I was gonna take all that curse word out anyway, already got one minibus, don't need another!) Its also on chop springs that I will be sorting very soon with some new AVO -60mm springs and shocks, provided someone takes my passat off me, otherwise its mechanicly perfect... It's MOT'd too, and has some fancy Porsche alloys, a recon engine with less than 2K on it, a mint 5 speed gearbox etc. Shame I may have to sell it to fund life But 1k buys you a lot of "wedge" esp if you buy outside of the "scene"

Although i'm a dubber, I agree with NickB on this one, go for something different. Type 2's are seriously overpriced whatever age they are, even the T25's are starting to fetch top dollar. Commer and Bedfords should not be overlooked both are even Dormobile conversions, same as available for the veedub Personally I would say the Commer, there is one I see everyday sitting in someones garden looking very sad for itself that I just want to go and save. I think Rmad might know the one I mean, its in Welling

Buy a type 25 (or T3 if you prefer), you'll not regret it. They don't rot as easily as the earlier vans and you can still pretty easily pick up cheap ones. I bought a 40-odd thousand mile panel van in need of some brake bits and an exhaust for 200 squid a month ago

Sounds like a plan. Conversely, my missus would never 'slum it' in a tent (sans or avec offspring), or even a basic campervan I suspect. A full-on £50k 'Kon-Tiki' would probably be 'adequate' for her needs
