Thanks for that..
Update today.. managed to get a bit more done...
bled brakes fitted new Battery Cover MU800964 Amsoil Filter and TSO 0w30 Oil added inc new sump plug & washer flushed coolant sorted PS fluid leak removed old aircan (very restricted, now open on the K&N)
Didnt need much oil or water, quite surprised, but I'm more used the to the newer vr4 twin turbo engine and it needs lots of feedin.
Tomorrows plans are:
Fit new FTO steering wheel (no airbag) Remove paper filter behind MAF Might try to crush the BOV (recommended on the owner forums) May attempt to block the EGR Fit 1/2 size battery to aid airflow
Also sent some pics of my Evo 2 MAF to a supplier to make me a nice converter cable to use the Evo2 MAF with the existing wiring.. 25% more airflow they say

Update Managed to pick up a full set of Evo 8 suspension and this will be going on soon. Found a cheap Eclipse throttle body intake and fitted that, its a much better design. Also fitted some NGK powerleads and finally fitted the JDM stereo... had to make my own brackets in the end. Next few weeks ill be doing the injectors and fuel pump while fitting the Evo 2 MAF and this lot: It consists of: Evo 2 Maf Dejon 2g Intake with all the nips on it K&N Filter adapter (so i can use the big original filter on the 2g Maf) Evo 2 to vr4 MAF cable adapter Will have to move the battery and redo a lot of hoses, but the combo of the Evo 2 MAF with the Dejon setup gives 25% more air... and the uprated fuel pump with Evo 8 injectors should balance nicely. Obviously will get the emanage retuned too. Still waiting on bits from across the world... so will update as and when.

I like it a lot. And a genuine JDM example too! Does it have round Japanese MOT sticker somewhere?

No stickers for the MOT, but has a few randoms on the back screen...
Ordered samco hoses today from Merlin Motorsport. I have some 63mm stainless pipe that ill use to make a hard pipe set when I fit the Dejon intake above.
Also managed to find a GTI being broken so I can salvage the roof strip that i needed too...

I'll get some pics soon, the bay looks a fair bit different now as I have done:
NGK leads from japan samco radiator hoses (easier to bend than the stock) fitted dejon intake with 1g K&N, 2g MAF, Iceman 2g Maf converter & Dejon K&N adapter fitted custom 400mm 63mm pipe with flange and 8mm vacume nipple to allow the BOV to be moved.. Fitted the stock BOV in its new place Bagged an Odyssey battery (tiny)
Ive blocked off a few bits of pipework to clean up the bay a bit, they aint needed anyway.
Next thing to do is await a new battery tray... now the small one fits i just need to secure it. Once thats in i'll check all hoses and jubilee's to ensure its all tight.
Once thats done, its back to 'The Garage' to have the sway bars and Evo 8 suspension fitted

Good to see another HH/HG body Galant on here. When it comes time to lower it you can take about 2 inches out of it to get the front tire somewhere close to the fender. Mine is dropped and inch all around and my auto trans sump hates me! but it looks to high i think. I'll be watching this one. Cheers

Car has gone into mates garage to have the Evo 7/8 suspension fitted and the thick ARB's (plus other wee bits).
Looking forward to its return in a few weeks. Will take some pics when it returns and report on the suspension differences.

Brilliant car, reminds me of my 1989 which I sold a couple of years ago: But I couldn't resist the temptation when I found another one up for sale locally, but this time because of the condition of the car this one's going to be used as a road legal track day car. This one's a 1990 example:

When I moved house I sold the last Legnum I had and missed working on them. Seen this come up cheap and thought Id save it from being used as an Evo doner. I thought these had same engine as an EVO? Or is that what you meant

bstardchild, I think the 6 bolt in the Galant is stronger than the 7 bolt in thr Evo's and as such the vr4 engine is sometimes used as an upgrade

The car is almost ready but with the extra power the clutch has started to slip. Ordered an exedy fast road clutch from Camskill for the Evo 1 at £180 which seems super reasonable
